is it legal for a boss to give you a present for a christmas bonus in stead of money?

Of course. Christmas bonuses are discretionary, meaning they don't have to give you anything at all unless you have some specific contractual entitlement to a certain bonus.

Good luck,

Sometimes people mistaken "merit incentives" for a bonus.

If the Christmas time 'compensation' depends on your yearly performance, then it might not really be a bonus. If you earned it through your performance, it might be considered a part of your earned wage. If this is the case, and also if you have received cash in the past, and if you're talking about a large amount of money, maybe you should seek advice from an attorney.

You are not entitled to a Christmas bonus under any law. So, therefore, a boss can give you whatever he wants or he can give you nothing. It's his choice.

Of course it is. A boss isn't required to acknowledge the holiday in any way. Consider ANYTHING you receive a bonus.

Your compensation is dictated by your contract. It likely says something like "at the discretion of management".
