So the divorce went through at the beginning of November. She called right away to let me know, and to get the ex's address, so she could send us copies of the paperwork. When it didn't show up after a week or so I called her and left a message asking what is up? Since then, I have left her about 10 voice mails, all polite yet questioning. Still no paperwork. The thing is that the ex doesn't even know that the divorce is final and I don't want to be the one to tell him. I want him to just get the paperwork, you know? I have already paid her, of course, but I really have had to micromanage her the whole way through.

Honestly, I would go to her office and ask if you can see her. Tell her staff that your paperwork is pending, and that you've tried to contact her, but unsuccessfully. I've learned with doctors and stuff, that you have to be pushy sometimes to get what you want. Some people just aren't as diligent and professional as we'd expect them to be. Go there, and keep going there at least once a week, if not twice a week, if at all possible. They have to know you mean business.
Good luck.

Call the court and find out what is the hold up with the paperwork. They can tell you what is on the docket and what has been filed in the case, in some courts, you can find this information out online. If the divorce is final and the final paperwork has been filed...get a copy of it for yourself and make sure there is a proof of service sent to your ex.

As far as the attorney goes, you may have to pay a visit to her rather than relying on the telephone.
As far as the EX goes... you may have to suck it up and tell him yourself that the divorce is final. You don't need to exchange words, just call and say, "this is ____, our divorce is final and you should get paperwork in the mail sometime soon" and hang up! You don't have to wait for a response or anything. It's purely an informative call. You could even send him a little note by mail.

Maybe she died :(
Seriously, let you ex worry about getting his own paperwork. He has his own representatives, or he represents himself. Either way it is his responsibility, not yours.
You don't want to micromanage your staff, but you gleefully wan to do it for your adversary?
Hmm...
Something tells me something else is up here. And I bet you attorney knows that you are just looking to be vindictive and twist the knife one more time instead of letting go now that the divorce s final. that might be why she refuses to do your dirty work for you.

Go to her office and tell her secretary that you need your paperwork and you want it now or you will turn the attorney over to the Better Business Bureau. Tell your ex that he is an ex and get it over with and move on with your life.

Try talking to the paralegal first. They are usually the one who does all the correspondence. Then if this is a firm, see if you can find out who is the managing partner and talk directly with him/her.
The Model Code of Professional Conduct requires diligence, including prompt and reasonable correspondence with the client and to keep the client informed. So if you really want to get her into trouble, you can threaten reporting her to the state bar disciplinary committee. It won't do your case any good, but might just get her attention.

Leave a message for her that you are going to report her to the bar association if she does not become more responsive, then demand she send the paperwork.

Instead of calling her and leaving voice messages for her, talk to her staff. They are the people that are actually going to mail the information anyway and they spend more time in the office.

Go to her office in person or set up an appiontment, tell her that you are not satisfied with the way she has handled your case. You can always, as a last resort, contact your State Bar.and tell them of your concerns.
