My children's (twins) father has been "voluntary" paying me $400 monthly for child support since they were born except for 7 months.
As those payments were very low and not consistent : I applied for child support services thru the state of Florida.
Last March (after nearly 2 years of my application)a child support order has been finnaly established for $600 monthly for both children.
BUT no retro has been ordered for those 7 months he did not pay at all.
He had an attorney not me just the State representing me...
What can I do in order to collect this retro?
If I hire an attorney could he do the job? what will be the approximatevely cost?
Thanks in advance for any advices

Do you think that this thought could well apply to large numbers of American citizens in our time? With recent Presidential and Congressional assaults on the Constitution and our individual liberties, how can Americans believe themselves to be as free as they were before 9/11?

Example, if I am a single woman with no living relatives, and I have a friend who is like a sister to me, can I legally "adopt" her as my sibling so that she can act in the role of next-of-kin for me when needed?

I tried to return two un-opened bottles of alcohol (vodka and rum) to the grocery store where I bought them, with the receipt, 5 days after I bought them and was told by the manager that "You can't return alcohol". When I asked why, he said "State Law". I have googled this and can find no reference to a California State Law banning the return of alcohol to a store. Is it true?

To start, I live in Michigan, and I've heard many mixed answers on both topics.. I have heard several times you cannot leave home without parental consent at 17, unless you are married. So, if I got married at 17, would I need parental consent to do so? Would I need parental consent if the wedding was held in Canada? And is it true that if I am married, I can leave without parental consent?

Just to clarify, I am not one of those teenagers whose mommy wouldn't buy them an ipod so they hate their life and want to move out.. I have genuine reasons for asking this question, and am not asking for myself. I am asking for a friend who I've watched be mistreated for years now, and is approaching her 17th birthday. So if you could please not give me the immaturity and suck it up comments, that would be deeply appreciated.

does anyone know if it is illegal for costco to take away a membership for following their own return policy? my brother has returned numerous items and costco has this in their history and took away his membrshp. costco had a policy that clearly stated " satisfaction guarenteed, if at anytime you are unsatisfied with your purchase, simply bring back the item with the receipt and receive a full refund" costco has since changed its policy to 90 days for electronics. my brother broke no rules and costco does not have it written anywhere that the refund policy has limits. my brother is upset because he could have went to best buy and got the same tv with a warranty but chose costco because of the guarentee.

If the woman drivng the car would have stayed at the scene of the accident, she would have been arrested and lost her children. I did not think I was seriously injured, so we both left the scene before the police arrived. Before we left, we made the agreement that if I DID need medical treatment, she would take responsibility. It turned out that I sustained a back injury that I need medical attention for. I contacted the woman about this, and now she refuses to take hold up to her promise.since I have physical proof of the accident (her car was damaged and my bicycle still has paint from her car on it, plus I have a witness to the incident), will I be able to legally get her to take responsibility for this (pay for the hospital visit, medications, and surgery if it is needed)?
