I am 18 in 2 months.

I have had my job for well over a year now.
The savings account i took the money from is in my name.

My mother claims that everything i own is really hers.

Is there anything that i can do legally to gain custody of this laptop again?

She took the laptop while it was on the table and proceeded to lock it in her room, not accessible to me.

And she took it because she believed i didnt need to buy a laptop.

Is there anything that i can do legally to gain custody of this laptop again?

when you turn 18 you can ask for it back then she can kick you out of here house!! so you Make the call live under her roof with her laws or move out with nothing but a lap top!!!!

You live in her house under her rules - so she has the right to take the laptop.

Now when you turn 18 should you decide to leave home then she has to return the property.

Something tells me you didn't give us the whole story, such as why she took the laptop.

Is she bad at communicating?
Was she trying to tell you that she already bought you one for christmas?
Ask her.

Otherwise, she is missing the whole "you respect my stuff I bought with my own money, and I'll respect yours"
She is probably having a very hard time realizing that her young son doesn't really need her anymore.
One question... What did you do to get your laptop taken away?

You bought it with money you earned. You have the right to it. Can you talk to the guidance counselor or the policeman at your school? Maybe they can give you some guidance. Short of filing a police report, I don't honestly know what you can do. Good luck!

Where exactly did she take your laptop? If it's still in the house but she just uses it all the time, she didn't really take it.

Small Claims Court...have to prove it's yours, but that would likely be the venue.

I think some info is missing here. Such as WHY she took it.
