What is a signature bond? Are there any risks involved for the signer?

Someone got arrested for real estate fraud. Hes looking to get a signature bond. He needs someone without a criminal background and a job to sign for him. I dont know anything about this. What would I be agreeing to if I sign? Is it a good idea. I dont want to get involved in anything.

It is the same as posting the money for the bond. If he skips out, you pay.
