When I am asked "Who shaved the family cat and painted her pink with a paint-roller?" I am saying the exact same thing that the Attorney General and the White House staff are telling congress "I do not remeber", yet my mom doesn't believe me.

I was born in a hospital on a military base, which is considered federal property. Does this mean that I am not a resident of a particular state and are their any advantages or disadvantages to this. I think the same holds true for residents of Washington DC as it is not formally a state.

The other tenant could not find a parking space so she decided to tow my vehicle which was parked on my assigned parking space. She did not call or knock on the door to confirm if that vehicle was mine. The manager hapends to be the lady's mom. I've told the manager they are responsible for paying the tow bill. They are refusing to pay the entire bill. They want to split it half. However it was not my fault and how can she ask me to pay for something that was completely not my fault. What are my options.

The Oil Express report says the wording of the decal will be:

"This device dispenses motor fuel by volume measured in gallons. It
does not adjust the volume for variations in the temperature of the fuel.
The temperature of motor fuel affects the energy content of each gallon
dispensed."

"The loss is perhaps 50 cents per hot tankful for individual motorists,
and the collective loss to motorists in California alone is estimated at
about $450 million a year in California," said Dugan. "Exxon can't evade
its responsibility to sell gasoline fairly and honesty with a decal
essentially saying 'Yeah, we rip you off and what are you going to do about
it.'"

Hi. I'm a 16 yr old living in Shreveport, Louisiana. About 2 months ago, my father got a job opportunity in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The only thing was that we all had to move down there. When I say all, I mean, myself, my dad, and my stepmom. I didn't want to do it. I've lived in Shreveport all my life and I didn't want to move 4 hours away to live in a busy city that I don't like. Over the past 2 months, I've so far been doing everything in my power to try to stay in Shreveport, but so far nothing worked. My dad came to the conclusion that the only way I'd get to stay in Shreveport is to live with my mom. My mother lives in a 1 bedroom apartment with my stepdad in Shreveport. They are a very happy and stable couple, but my mom said that she didn't have much room for me. About a week ago, I was talking to my neighbor, who said that at 16, I can decide which parent to live with, no matter what either of them say. I just wanted to know if this is true. If not, what can I do at age 16? :(

probationary period is 2 weeks.
point system at work until you get fired:
5 pts - unexcused absenses/tardies
15 days of Requested time off which includes doctors notes.

we are given 15 days of RTOS.
For the past 2 weeks i have used a total amount of 3 doctors notes for a personal reason. on friday i called into work saying i would be missing work and bringing in a note (note #4). All notes were from the same valid doctor.

i got a call back later saying i was fired for abusing the doctors notes and i cannot keep using it as an excuse to miss work.

the doctors notes are real but still after telling them that, they still insisted that i was fired for abusing it.

I AM ALLOWED 15 DAYS OF RTOS??? i do not understand why i was fired for using 4 days of doctors note when i have 15 days allowed to me. i have never used a doctors note before and have only been using it for the past 2 weeks.

what should i do? was this fai

Our city has decided to begin charging everyone with a security system, a $20 permit fee. Of course, we already pay for the system to be put in by a local company, and then pay that local company money every month to have it be working. I cannot see how this will help keep crime down in our city. People have to apply for a permit, whether it is a business or a residence, get approved, and then, get to pay the local company each month as well. The city seems to be helping crime by doing this. What do you think about this?

NEW YORK - He was beaten and left for dead one night in a robbery while walking home in 1999. His skull was crushed and his brain severely damaged. The doctor said if he pulled through at all, he'd be a vegetable for the rest of his life.

For six years, the man could not speak or eat.

On occasion he showed signs of awareness, and he moved his eyes or a thumb to communicate. His arms were useless. He was fed through a tube.

But researchers chose him for an experimental attempt to rev up his brain by placing electrodes in it. And here's how his mother describes the change in her son, now 38:

"My son can now eat, speak, watch a movie without falling asleep," she said Wednesday while choking back tears during a telephone news conference. "He can drink from a cup. He can express pain. He can cry and he can laugh.

"The most important part is he can say, `Mommy' and `Pop.' He can say, `I love you, Mommy' ... I still cry every time I see my son, but it's tears of joy."

The progress of the patient, who remains unidentified at the family's request, is described more formally in a report in Thursday's issue of the journal Nature.

Experts called the results encouraging but cautioned that the experimental treatment must be tried in more patients before its value can be assessed. The researchers are already proceeding with a larger study.

Before the electrodes were implanted, the man was in what doctors call a "minimally conscious state." That means he showed only occasional awareness of himself and his environment. In a coma or vegetative state, by contrast, patients show no outward signs of awareness.

There are no reliable statistics on how many Americans are in a minimally conscious state, but one estimate suggests 112,000 to 280,000. Doctors may try medications to improve their condition but no drugs have been firmly established as helpful.

The experimental treatment is called deep brain stimulation. It has been used for years in treating Parkinson's disease, although in this case the electrodes were implanted in slightly different places. The goal of the stimulation was to provide "drive" to areas of the brain that are critical for specific skills like speaking.

Similar stories of partial recovery from brain damage occasionally grab headlines, whether the improvement came from treatment or just out of the blue.

Very, in my opinion. How can liberals - the alleged defenders of the constitution - support laws which force you to spend extra time in prison for allegedly having thoughts or feelings deep inside of you? A crime is a crime in my opinion - doesn't matter why. In this country of "free speech" how can someone be punished for feelings inside of them? Senseless murder is senseless murder. No matter what the reason is. Doesn't matter if a guy doesn't like gays or doesn't like the shirt someone is wearing. And of course these laws cater only to minorities. Remember when the black basketball player clobbered the white boy and pounded him on the court? No mention of the words hate crime. Or when the older, bigger black boy beat the small white kid on the school bus after teasing him? No mention of hate crime. But, true story, when a local Polish restaraunt was broken into and money was stolen and a few tables knocked over - the media was asking if it was a hate crime. Hysterical.

When I typed in "New York Gun Laws" into google some said that you cant own a gun in NYC if you are under 21. I am really frustrated because I only want to own a gun because I happend to have brought some dangerous people in my life and I have no way of knowing if they want to break in and kill me or something. I am not parinoid, I am just someone who wants to own a gun for legitamte reasons and there are so many obstacles in the way, if someone has some advice please let me know what to do!!

If you’re caught speeding, you’re very likely to be fined, receive points on your licence or even banned if you’re caught going fast enough.

This may be fair enough in most cases, but what if you’re on a long straight empty road, in a perfectly serviced car, sober and in perfect control of the vehicle and the reason you’re speeding is a family emergency?

In a 2 year period I’ve seen on numerous police without flashing lights or horns sounding, speeding/doing u-turns in locations that for you & me would be deemed illegal, parking on double yellow lines with two wheels on the pavement while they pick up a meal in fast food outlets, and worse.

You or I may plead ignorance of a rule and be told ignorance of a rule is no defence, but the police are the ones who are charged with enforcing the law, so who polices the police?

I am a medical student and also doing research within the university on mitochondrial ageing. I also have a small lab in the basement of my house. Sometimes I get samples of chemicals and tubes, etc. because I tell them that I am medical student but when they ask me for the address of the university I always give them my home address and so the chemicals arrive at my house (samples are of course small quantities.) The question is would this be considered fraud? could I possibly get into some kind of trouble? Of course I do not make any illegal drugs or explosives, merely doing scientific work at home, sometimes.
