Because the federal law has changed and you can only buy so much now, and you need to show a drivers license. because people are using it to make meth.

Meth is a highly dangerous drug and I am glad the government is attempting to stop it.

In a normal amount, Sudafed can be purchased without any issue. If someone tries to buy too many boxes they will think you are trying to make Meth with it.

Sudafed is one of the ingredients in crystal meth. If people try to buy an excessive amount, they can be arrested.

Welcome to the hysterics of law. Sudafed has components that can be used to manufacture meth. However, it takes a large amount of sudafed to do so.

The purchase of a large amount of sudafed could reasonably be the basis of "reasonable suspicion" and be used to gain a search warrant for a person's home.

They can arrest someone for buying large amounts of pseudophedrine or something like that because your town, county, or state passed a law that allowed the police to do so. It is an essential ingredient in the manufacture of meth, an illegal substance, which I agree should be illegal. Why people use that cr*p is beyond me!

Just because it's legal doesn't mean there are no restrictions, such as age, or quantity. You won't sell smokes to a 9 year old, nor vodka. Federal laws restrict many legal things [as well as the illegal ones].

People make Meth or something using it so they are cracking down on people who buy it, like if they buy an obviously large amount... more than one box will raise some eyebrows... they check for I.D.'s here in Chicago when you buy it...

Why????? my lawyer would own your town. I have hay fever, and sudafed isn't even powerful enough for me.

Depends on how much the person is buying. Buying 5,000 tabs is, while not illegal, highly suspicious.

There's got to be more to it than just buying sudafed.

Isn't that one of the ingredients that they use to make methamphetamines?
