Abortion is always defended as being necessary and, invariably, someone who defends it says that we have to think about rape and incest. But shouldn't justifications be reflected by reality? Because in reality, rape and incest account for less than 10% combined of the reasons given by women for abortions in the US.

these are the reasons given for abortions according to planned parenthood and other sources:

"Three-fourths of women cite concern for or responsibility to other individuals; three-fourths say they cannot afford a child; three-fourths say that having a baby would interfere with work, school or the ability to care for dependents; and half say they do not want to be a single parent or are having problems with their husband or partner"

If a man who has fathered a child gives these reasons for not supporting the child he's considered a deadbeat. Please no "he should have thought of that before sex" unless you say the same thing to women who get abortions.

Thanks.

Man mocks me in bar by saying "my shoes are worth more than your house!" - What is this?

I bumped into a man at the bar by accident the other night. I apologized and said it was very crowded.

The guy then took a deep breath and said "Look, pal!!! You better watch your step. Do you know who you bumped into? My shoes cost more than your house!"

Obviously the man had an ego problem but I'm very confused about the "My shoes cost more than your house!" comment.

What does this mean?

First off, I'd appreciate it if no one mocked my lack of knowledge. The reason I'm here is because I do want to learn about something I don't know about.

I'm thinking about changing my first name for personal reasons. I read that I'm supposed to get a court order of some sort, but I've never ever dealt with anything legal like passports or anything of the sort, so I need you guys' help. The closest thing I've done is get my license at the DMV, but I digress. To begin, where do I even start? I live in California, and I don't know where to get a "court order". Is this process going to be complicated? I'd think you just fill out a form and get it approved by some sort of judge, pay a fee and it's done. But it's not that easy, right? Or is it?

Can someone please explain the process to me step by step?

A doctor has applied for a patent on new technology involving use of advanced computers to create a new type of organism. One of the goals of his research is to genetically improve these organisms for use in human organ growth and transplant. The doctor says that if he is not granted a patent, he intends to continue his work either in the United States or overseas. My question is should this activity be a violation of the law, a deviant act or none of the above? Why do you think that? Should developers of new technology be required to have their innovations screened before they are developed? I need opinions please... Thanks

My 18 year old son was charged with burglary, a class D felony in Indiana, 20,000$ bail. He said he did not steal anything, they have him on video in the house. Would'nt that be considered breaking & entering. He was in the house but nothing was taken. He will get a court appointed lawyer and I will not be bailing him out. This is his first offense and if I have anything to do with it, it will be his last, that is why I will not bail him out. He done the crime now he will serve the time.

My daughters father is suppose to pick her up from school this afternoon. He text 9am to say that he wouldn't be able to pick her up because he has to do something, and then he's going to work and when he gets off he won't have time to get her by the time she gets out of school. He said that he can meet me tomorrow to get her.

I told him, that I have already arranged to work late for someone. He then said that he wouldn't be able to get her and that I would have to find someone to pick her up. I asked him why did he decide to go to work afterwards, (he has a job he can makeup the hours), he could pick her up first than go to work (desk job, no one would be around). He said that said couldn't get her. I told him it was his weekend and that if she's not picked up from school they will call CPS. He always wants me to rearrange my schedule when he doesn't want to pick her up. He could have done 'whatever' yesterday or tomorrow. Why the day he has to pick up our daughter?

Cameraman Jose Couso died in the Hotel Palestine in Baghdad in 2003, with a Ukrainian colleague, Taras Portsyuk.

Judge Santiago Pedraz has previously issued several arrest warrants for Sgt Shawn Gibson, Capt Philip Wolford and Lt Col Philip de Camp.

However, the US has made clear it will not hand them over.

Judge Pedraz charged the three men with homicide and "a crime against the international community".

This is defined under Spanish law as an indiscriminate or excessive attack against civilians during war time, says the Associated Press.

After the incident, which was highly publicised at the time, then-US Secretary of State Colin Powell said American troops had come under fire from the hotel.
