Abortion is always defended as being necessary and, invariably, someone who defends it says that we have to think about rape and incest. But shouldn't justifications be reflected by reality? Because in reality, rape and incest account for less than 10% combined of the reasons given by women for abortions in the US.
these are the reasons given for abortions according to planned parenthood and other sources:
"Three-fourths of women cite concern for or responsibility to other individuals; three-fourths say they cannot afford a child; three-fourths say that having a baby would interfere with work, school or the ability to care for dependents; and half say they do not want to be a single parent or are having problems with their husband or partner"
If a man who has fathered a child gives these reasons for not supporting the child he's considered a deadbeat. Please no "he should have thought of that before sex" unless you say the same thing to women who get abortions.
Thanks.

People are saying that it has to do with the "clump of cells". (A) There are women who have abortions beyond the initial state (b)women at least have a choice whereas men who don't want responsibility are given none. How is this equitable if the definition of liberty is the right to do something until it infringes on someone else's right to do the same? It's ludicrous to suggest that, if this is a medical, private issue, the man is responsible for it if he doesn't want the child and she does, but powerless if he does want it and she doesn't.
At what point did such a gross inequality become acceptable? the gestation period argument is also horrible. Saying that a woman being forced to support a child she doesn't want for 9 months is unfair but making a man support a child he doesn't want for 18 years sounds completely imbalanced. In the case of consensual sex the law is setup so that the woman has no accountability and the man has no power. Are we saying that fathers don't count?

The difference is if the dad is a dead beat its not the moms fault (if she didnt know or is just "blinded by love")
Abortion is MURDER...you kill something living..Only abortions I MIGHT say are ok is when A woman is raped..and even then lots of women keep the kid or give it up for adoption..and just because the dad is a deat beat doesnt mean the kid is going to die or have a bad life..
My friends sister, a young hispanic mother has a kid by a guy whos no good...he got locked up..she just forgot about him and shes about to graduate form MEDICAL SCHOOL... I bet that kid is going to have a GREAT LIFE as any kid would with a parent/parents with average- good jobs!

95% of raped women do not report said rape, do you really think they tell the Truth when they go for an abortion? And there are times when having a baby just can not work out at that time. People do make mistakes, you know.

Nice statement. There are plenty of deadbeat dads!
The main difference is you are not forcing your views on a man to have a child as they cannot. You are a woman. It is a privacy issue between her and her MD. It is not a decision that belongs to someone who will not pay to raise it, clothe it, educate it or provide other services necessary, including medical and dental!
Moreover, those that cite Birth control issues, are generally the young who the people who want to mandate those to have unwanted children, are the same ones who takes birth control out of schools, sex education, and now they are after ALL BIRTH CONTROL PILLS! They are often the same ones who abuse their children and complain about the state when the are paid a visit by child protective services, like I did!
And abortion isn't murder! You can't murder something that does not legally exist! The Catholic church doesn't think it is murder, and if it is, that is an issue to be decided between the person and God, not those who claim to speak for Him! Butt out and keep your religious beliefs to yourself as I personally am tired of hearing them!

A woman who has an abortion has had a clump of cells, the size of a dime, removed. The deadbeat dad has condemned a child to poverty, and laid the responsibility of funding that kid on everyone else. So the answer is that one of these things is about removing a clump of cells, and one is about destroying someone's childhood, and burdening society.
I guess someone with a name like Pimpfopho needs it spelled out.

You actually make an interesting point. The difference is that the fetus inside a woman before she has an abortion is not a person. It is part of a woman's body and she has the choice whether or not she wants to let it develop inside her. Once a child is born (or has reached a certain stage of development) both parents- mother and father- must provide for it because it is now a person.
