Indian judiciary is becoming too sensitive day by day. The kissing inciedent between Shilpa Shetty and Richard Gere is just a simple thing. When the inciedent happend in Kanpur what made the Jaipur Magistrate to react. Section 294 of IPC is a cognizable offence and with out a complaint from victim court can't do any thing. Without the appearance of Gere the proceedings will be quashed by either Rajashtan High Court of if not Supreme Court of India will do it. Come on Indian Judiciary move on there is nothing wrong in a person kissing on the cheek even though it is in public.

My roommate has decided to move out 6 mths into a yr lease. She tried to get off the lease, but our replacement was not approved and the landlord is refusing to let her out of the lease, since she knows we cannot afford the place without her. She says since she told me she was moving out (almost) a month before, that she is not responsible for her part of the rent. She says that it is our responsibility to pay it, but I say that since she is 1/3 of the lease she is responsible for her part still.
My question is, if she gave a month notice but was not let off the lease by the landlord is she still legally responsible for her part?
Our landlord made it clear that the rent is due by the first regardless of how it's made (in other words if one person can't make it all 3 of us are responsible to get it paid). So I'm assuming that if we chose not to pay it at all all 3 of us would be sued. So, if the 2 of us cover her portion, can we legally go after her for the months she refused to pay?

One of my past professors was convicted of felony before he became a teacher. The University is not aware of it. Could he lose his job if they found out? He also had 2 disorderly conduct charges against him, one in 97 and one in 05 (while he was teaching). He was found guilty of both.
I know this is on the bottom of all criminal records, but he's supposed to be educating young minds, I just wonder if teachers can be fired for this.

We were having a party at my house last weekend and we were all drinking (lot's). A friend ask another friend to play this CD, he said it's in your card so he goes out in the car to get the CD, he was sitting in the drivers seat, got the CD just as a cop came up...we ran outside and told him to say NOTHING..well he got a DUI, the thing the cop didn't know was we were video taping the ENTIRE time...we have him going out to the car then getting arrested for DUI, we kept the camera rolling until he came iside while we were holding the car keys then went outside to start the car to show they belonged to the car, we then open the hood and placed our hands on the manifold (to show the car was NEVER running) ALL on tape! We want to bust the cop for being a fat liar...should we go to a lawyer, call a TV station etc..

advice please???

BTW, everyone was 25 years old or older, NO disturbing the peace. I own the house

Do I have to let him stay in the house, where we both jointly own the home. He told me I have no right to throw him out he owns the house too. We have since worked things out, but in the back of my mind I am not sure my relationship is not in trouble. Do I have to live with like in the movie the breakup with Jennifer Anniston and Vince Vahn? I dont want to contact a lawyer because I really dont have the money since I am on Social Security disability> If it helps I am 38 years old.

I just read the AP article that said police at VT spent 3 minutes charging the building and 5 more minutes breaking in as Cho had chained the doors. I don't know how many doors were in that building but I will assume it took him 5 minutes to chain all the doors. That means a gun man who had already killed was allowed to run amouk for at least 13 minutes with NO OPPOSITION.

The AP article also states he fired 170 rounds. 170 rounds at 13 minutes duration turns out to be 1 round every 5 seconds which means he was selecting his targets deliberately and carefully UNOPPOSED.

How can even the most liberal Dem/Lib possibly say students/professors/janitors should not have been armed. If just one person in that building had been armed this matter could have been stopped or at least cornered early own. Shame on Dems/Libs for their callowless attitude.

OBTW please don't tell me armed citizens is not the answer for in this situation it very clearly WAS THE ANSWER.

My husband and I are going to court to get custody of his daughter. Her mother had an old boyfriend arrrested for breaking in to the house. Now this guy is back in the picture and is going to court...(to say what i dont know) But I have a feeling if that fact about being arrested is brought up, they will deny it. Is it possible to get a record or a copy of a police report if we are not part of that case?

They didnt do anything at first so his family contacted red cross and the red cross contacted the military and he got a 10 day leave before going to his unit... He never made it back to the army. He was been gone for two years and he went to GA for his gambling help and he searched for god and found help there... It has been 2 years AWOL and he has gotten pulled over by the cops once for a speeding ticket and went to court... He has a good job where they run a background check on him... Hes bought a house and a new car... All of this while he was AWOL... And now that hes gotten the help he has saved up money for his family while hes gone he wants to know what happens now with the AWOL and why they havent hunted him down or arrested him when he was pulled over or bought a house?????

I have a business trip that I'm supposed to go on in June. The problem is, I have a court date set and it is right in the middle of the week that I'm due to be gone. If I don't go on this trip, it could severely impact my career.

So, my question is this: what happens if someone fails to appear? Does he/she end up with a bench warrant? What happens then? If I go on my business trip, turn myself in for failure to appear when I get back, have the money for bail in case they arrest me and go to the next court date (since I think that's what they do), would sort of impact would it have?

Please give any insight you may have on this issue. I really don't want to miss this court date but I'm concerned about my financial welfare if I miss this trip!
