In the US, there is a law called "eminent domain", which means that the government" owns" all of the land in the country even though they do not hold the actual deed to the property. However, they can force you to sell your property to them, for market value, at any time in order to move forward with such a project as you describe.
You would need to check the zoning laws for your area, and whether your property falls under the city or county bylaws. It would appear that they are converting residential property into commercial land; usually this is done by first changing the zoning laws in the area in which the property is located. So if it was zoned as housing and is now zoned for business use only, they city/county can claim that you cannot reside there because the property is not zoned for housing.
This is a difficult situation for you and I'm very sorry.

Everyone wants to take possession of the land you live on!
Btw, you do realize you do NOT own the land (at least in the USA). You merely own the priviledge of the use and enjoyment of the land.
This comes from the old English law where the King owns the land.
If you truly owned the land and not just the use and enjoyment of it, then they could not take it. You could secede from the union and start your own country. You would not be subject to easements and zoning laws, etc.

Your house is residential. You would have to check with local planning and zoning to see if any of your land is zoned commercial and what type of commercial it is zoned for.

It's not commercial but any questions beyond that probably needs to be taken up with an attorney.
