that is absolutely assinine...
The reason we can't win a war on terror is because terror is a subjective term..
You might as well wage war on happiness. It makes the same amount of sense.. Terror isn't a place, and "terrorists" are defined by a person's point of view...
I just don't understand how people can support "wars" on ideals... The war on drugs (is there a drugland out there somewhere, if there is, I'm movin there..) The war on terror (is there a terrorland out there, unfortunately USA comes closer than anyone else to that definition).
Wars are conflicts between nations. And, when you go to war, you vow to destroy the country you are warring with.. this is the nature of war...
We take the ideal too lightly, and apply it to subjective ideals and ethos. Its all ridiculous and detrimental to our society.

In addition to what the first answer said, add in the large number of people in this country who are in complete denial that such a war is even going on.
Oooh another suicide bombing in Baghdad, well, has nothing to do with us, they just want us out of here, if we hadn't invaded Iraq in the first place, they'd have never bombed the WTC and Bush did that anyway, they all hate us over there, that's why out of the hundreds of people killed in Iraq, occassionally one will be a soldier, but it's not terrorism, it's all our fault, we're the oppressors for wanting to let them be free.

You can't fight a war against being afraid.
Absolutely not. We aren't winning the "War on Terror" because we are causing just as much terror for the Iraqi people. how many refugees are fleeing the violence that we helped start?

We have barely begun to fight any war on terror. We're killing lots of people in Iraq, and losing lots of fine young women and men in the process, but that has very, very little to do with any WOT. The resources spent countering terrorisism are vanishingly small compared to what's being poured into the sands of Iraq.

Even if it is....what is the point of winning the war on terror to protect our way of life if we are willing to completely destroy it in the process. it would be a very hollow victory...it is like fightin gover the Alamo only the Alamo was destroyed in a bombing run....who cares then?

Yes and no, you see, yes, suspending the bill of rights in any way would make it far easier to root out certain elements that may be detrimental to our somewhat free society but at what price is always the question. But by suspending the Bill of Rights, the terrorists would secure their biggest victory

No. What is slowing our progress are the traitors at the New York Times, and the democrates in the congress.
