Do I have to let him stay in the house, where we both jointly own the home. He told me I have no right to throw him out he owns the house too. We have since worked things out, but in the back of my mind I am not sure my relationship is not in trouble. Do I have to live with like in the movie the breakup with Jennifer Anniston and Vince Vahn? I dont want to contact a lawyer because I really dont have the money since I am on Social Security disability> If it helps I am 38 years old.

The cause of the separation, after twenty years we dont see eye to eye. We never did, so I am not sure why now things have gone so bad. We are actually fighting about improvements on the house and I dont want certain things because it will limit my mobility. Also I dont want a dog. I am afraid of them.

Forget the movies. If you still live together, you're not separated. There may be sites where you can get free legal advice. No matter how you look at it, eventually you will have to speak to an attorney.

If you don't want to be near him.. then you should leave...its that simple. Would you leave if you were him? You're on disability, so you expect him to support you there and support himself as well? What you are asking of him isn't fair. As long as you have a pulse and the desire to get away...the door is open for you.

I'm obviously fed up with the stereotypical womans victim mentality. Be a big girl now.. make some phone calls.. move out.

This depends on the laws in your state. In theory he's right that you both have rights as joint homeowners, but you can't go on what you see or hear from anyone else besides an attorney licensed in your state and familiar with family law in your state. Each state's laws are different. If you cannot afford a private attorney, contact legal aid in your county.

that is hard to answer the only one that can give you an advice is a professional in this kind of issues...
Because you are not giving much information of the cause of separation that you called but to me is not separation at all in your situation.
Separation is when a person had gone away.

If you jointly own the house, why do you think you have more right to live there than he does. If you don't want to live with him and he won't leave, then your only choice is to leave.
