Man mocks me in bar by saying "my shoes are worth more than your house!" - What is this?

I bumped into a man at the bar by accident the other night. I apologized and said it was very crowded.

The guy then took a deep breath and said "Look, pal!!! You better watch your step. Do you know who you bumped into? My shoes cost more than your house!"

Obviously the man had an ego problem but I'm very confused about the "My shoes cost more than your house!" comment.

What does this mean?

He was trying to say, in a drunk fashion, that he has a lot of money. Fact is that he was likely drunk and wished he had a lot of money. Little ego, smaller ____.

It means he has expensive, designer shoes that probably cost him a few thousand dollars and said what he said to show that he has the means to buy shoes (implying one pair of many just like them) that are worth more that where you live, to imply he is worth more than you.

You nailed it on the head in identifying that the man has some severe ego problems to make such a statement (which many or may not have been), especially if it were true as he is majorly insecure and feels that the show of his financial success is a measure of who he is, therefore, the need to flaunt the financial success. Deep inside, he feels he is a worthless piece of $hit and if he didn't own those expensive shoes, you are better than he is and the only way he can be near your level is to brag about his stupid, over-priced shoes.

The renewed Covenant of Jer 31:31-34 The same one as in Isaiah 53:1-12. Verse 12b Because he poured out His soul unto death & he was numbered with the transgressors, and He bore the sin of many & made intercession for the transgressors. Isaiah 11 speaks of Messiah & what He will do when He returns to set up the Covenant Kingdom. All who will come to Him & accept & do His Commandments will be included in the Covenant.

It means he had on very expensive shoes and based upon your appearance and demeanor, he assumes your house is worth very little. If you stepped on his shoes, it would be even more applicable, but basically he is calling you trash. Not very nice or appropriate.

Apparently he felt that he was more important than you and wanted you to think you were an insignificant person. You should have beat him with his Million dollar shoes.

It means he is telling you he is filthy rich and probably was dumb enough to pay several grand for his ugly shoes. He probably also has a severe case of pencil tool.

That he has very expensive shoes, or your house is a dump, not enough details to say for sure which it is, could be both.

I think it means literally that he has way to much money and he chooses to waist it on material things. Basically he was an a**, and wanted to make you feel beneath him. People that act like that need to belittle others in order to feel good about themselves.
