I was thinking about the strong disconnect many Americans have when it comes to crime and punishment. I am neither pro death penalty nor anti death penalty, but I cant help but wonder why public executions no longer take place?..I know the thought is terrible but when did we decide it was more humane to execute someone in the bowels of some dark jail rather than in the public square where the citizens are involved (like they should be)? Is it a way for citizens to shelter themselves and absolve themselves? We have an enormous crime problem and one reason for it is the average citizens refusal to get involved with the moral consequences of dealing with crime and punishment...Just for the sake of argument, do you think public executions would demand that citizens get involved and shoulder the responsibility they seem to be running from?

I was paid for auction item with stolen check, bank 1st cleared check & I shipped item & then I used the profit to write checks($450 profit-I sold my used computer on ebay) When the bank heard the check was stolen I showed them the auction, gave them the envelop, they canceled my checks & I had to pay nsf fees & an overdraft which I did. They opened a new bank account for me too. They however apparently had filed a grand theft charge first before approving me as the victim of the crime. Apparently they forgot to drop it so 2 days ago I was with my 6 year daughter waiting for someone to drop off my lost wallet because my wallet had been. The police were very nice.I closed the door when they found this old charge, came up to the door making some excuse about wanting to see the wallet and make sure they didnt forget something-with my front door open and my 6 year old behind me. My hand extended he grabbed me never read rights or warrant & arrested me. wife spent rent on bail help!

We moved into our home just over a year ago. This is a new home and was built one year prior to our purchasing it. The right side of the house holds two bedrooms and a hallway. The hallway has a severe dip in the floor that leads to one bedroom. The bedroom also has a severe lump in the floor. These items have been on the repair list since before we went to close on the house. We were originally told that there was a problem with the A-frame, a problem that could and would be repaired. This has not happened. The repair contractors have come out several times and attempted to repair the problem by shaving down the wood under the carpet and nailing the wood down so that the lump would no longer be noticable. However, none of these measures have proven effective. The defects remain and are still on the punchlist to be repaired. If the defects cannot be fixed, what is our legal recourse?

This lawyer was appointed by the NYS courts for my brother whom doesn't have the money to pay a lawyer. He was charged with Felony-Theft. He has since returned the property and been a good civilian since his arrest. His court appointed lawyer didn't show up for his last appeance. Is there a legal action as a family member I can take against this man for breaking his right to a fair and speedy trial? If not, what other things might I be able to do in order to get this lawyer to cooperate?

Hi, I was recently hit rom my motorcycle by a totally inept "senior" (don't ask me why) citizen. Essentially he took the left hand lane, even tho he had the intention of turning right. I was turning right, in the right hand lane. One mistake done. Upon being adjacent with the right hand turn he didnt make any observations and pulled into the right hand lane. Hitting me off, into a lampost and causing severe brain injury. The police have sent me a letter saying how "they will not seek to prosecute any party" in relation to my accident. Anyone know of ways in which I can settle the anger filled stomach by persuing this case and hopefully getting his punished? even something trivial is GREAT. Just anything to cause this Old age Moron a loss from the whole thing.
