I live in an area whwere there are 3 bbc tv studios and we often see them filming around the town. The seem to have started filming in the local park for a kids programme rather a lot and they stop everyone else using it on their filming days.
I have tried to insist that as a council tax payer I am entitled to use the park for my kids but they ay they have payed for the use. What are my rights?

Unfortunately the BBC are so like the party that partly funds them..IE the labour party that they will do what they like regardless of whether it deprives children of a playground or not!they forget that the whole of the UK has to fund them as well and you should protest! although I think you will be ignored sadly. It is a sign of the times.

The local council may have given the BBC a permit (upon payment) to film there and the BBC should be able to supply the permit to view on demand; e.g. to yourself. If you want to query this then either contact your local council or your local police who should also have knowledge of the permit being supplied.

It may be a case of the BBC have permission to film there, but do not have exclusive rights and therefore were in the wrong to prevent other people using the park during filming days. Again your local council and police station can answer these questions as local byelaws vary and sometimes the interpretation of national laws can also vary. Hope this helps.

You are quite entitled to use the park since you pay your council tax. They seem to have become bullies seeking to exclude you. I should ring up the council and notify the local papers and if that doesn't work your MP. Failing that take all your friends down to the park with you and make a stand. Nothing like direct action.

Just because you pay council tax it does not mean you own a park. The council can and do rent out all kinds of facilities to other people and principal it keeps the council tax down.Go round your neighbours and ask if they would be agreeable in a rise in tax so your kids can have access to the park.

It's a PUBLIC PARK and they should not be able to dictate to people who use it when it's paid for by Council Tax payers. My Local council too raises fund from renting out council facilities for filming. Our local Grave yard is often used by Eastenders and I think it's a bit of a cheek.

its like them closing off roads to film. The BBC i think get permission off the local authrotity to film in certain places and in a sense if they are making a TV programme they are going to have to close some parts off to the public so filming isn't disturbed. It's a small price to pay but the quicker it takes to film without interuptions then the quicker they will move to another location.

Doesn't seem fair, but as they say they have probably paid your local council for the right to film there, I don't think there is much you can do unless alot of you get together and protest.

Check with your local council. If they have agreed then insist that the fee be plowed back into facilities to enhance the park.

If they paid extra for the use, then you probably just have to stay away until they are done.

In the U.S., we have a similar deal. The parks are free, and anyone can use the shelters...however, if someone reserves the shelter (usually by renting it), you have to vacate for them.

I guess if you were in America your right would be to pick up a semi automatic at walmart and open fire on them, but you're not, and I guess murder is illegal in Britain, so you'll have to get legal advice from a laywer, not a bunch of uneducated and mostly strongly opinionated 14 year olds ktnx.
