I have a law question. Should a person suing for sexual harassment have the right to present evidence that the alleged harasser is engaged in a pattern of "sexual favors for advancement" with others in his (or her) office? Or should the case just stick to what happened to the person suing, and no one else?

Thanks.

So I've never really dealt with an attourney before and I was wondering how the laws are set up as far as confidentiality.

From my understanding, isn't there a rule that an attourney must keep all his communication with his client (or soon to be client) completely confidential?

Like for example (and no I'm not in this situation, I'm just using it as an example), say someone actually murdered someone, but is hiring or consulting with an attorney in their defense. Are they able to freely tell the attorney the whole story, and even if they did do it, the attorney can choose to defend them or not, but either way, the attorney is obligated by law to keep all communication between that person secret?

If so what is that called?

The main purpose of the 2nd amendment is so that citizens have guns and are thus able to defend themselvs against a tyranical government. This was the purpose of the founding fathers and the framers of the constitution. However it seems that with each passing year, there are more and more gun restrictions. Think about this if you will in another more personal way. We know that there are rapists and murderers out there. So what is a women to do when she is confronted with a man who wants to do her harm? If she has no gun then she is pretty much defenceless. I on the other hand am a man; therefore I am fully capeable of physically defending myself. But what if the man wants to rob me. With out a gun, I am powerless to stop it. The police can not protect us at all times and by taking away our rights to carry guns we become more like subjects than citizens.

Just wondering what people thought of the government scheme to microchip people. Would you mind having a small implant under your skin so you never got lost and they could easily identify you when you had to go to the docs? Or even better... you'd never need to carry any money or documents with you.

Or... is it a complete infringement on your rights as a human being?

I have a friend who hired a lawyer to represent her in a custody matter concerning her grandchildren. In the case she was suing her daughter for partial custody of the children. Her lawyer more than once violated the lawyer/client confidentiality clause by engaging in conversations with the daughter who had failed to hire a lawyer of her own. He also without my friend's consent canceled important court dates. He also set up mediation between my friend and her daughter where he ended siding with the daughter. At this meeting the lawyer's wife was eavesdropping on the meeting and burst in to offer unsolicited advise. My friend finds herself completely dis-satisfied with this lawyer and his antics and wants to hire another but she needs to know if she is entitled to any of the $1800 retainer she gave him.

First of all, I am not an NRA spokesperson or anything like that, and I'm not looking for ranting and raving here. I just want to know how gun control laws are reconciled with the 2nd Amendment, which is as follows:

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

That wording is pretty clear to me, and I must say that I agree with it. So how have judges justified the Constitutionality of gun control laws?
