I rent one room out of a house; there is one other room that is rented out. My roommate and I feel the same way – we should have access over the temperature in the home. The landlord has placed a door with a key lock on it restricting all access to the bottom level of the house. He maintains a bedroom there, but comes home maybe once or twice a week. Are there any legal restrictions to this?

My insurance company is billed by my Dr and they pay a portion of the claim that is a predetermined amount for that type of service.I pay a small portion per visit. And as a discount the Dr office is to "writeoff" a portion.I found they were not deducting the write off from my balance,by carefully reviewing my records. When confronted, the secretary admitted that she knew she was suppose to she just didnt know how much. And admitted she does not deduct the write off from any of the patients balances. These patients are owed that discounted service for seeing an in network provider and I would assume is part of the offices contract with the Ins.co. I feel the financials should be audited, some how.I dont know who to call or if I should call...Is this write off only at the dr offices discretion? If anyone knows who to call in Illinois it would be great!

I just found out today my landlord has not paid his mortgage for over 5 months, and owes over 89K on it. A notice of trustee's sale paper was taped on our door this afternoon, saying the home will be auctioned off Feb. 2.... So I was wondering what rights do I have as a renting occupant? What should we do?

My cousin has this crazy idea to sue her exboyfriend for "Defamation of Character". She said she has the evidence, has emails that he a Manager at his job, he wasn't he was a File Clerk, he also lied to her about his race, he lied to her and told her he was single- he wasn't he had a live-in girlfriend, he lie to her about the car he drove, he would drive his brother's car. She invested time and gas money on this guy. Now she wants to sue him, is that EVEN possible?? I never heard of that. She lives in California.

My real father died without a will. I havent heard from him in 25 years. He and his second wife owned a home together, and my grandmothers property(my fathers mother) has been put in the second wifes name at some point. I now own 1/8 of these properties due to the fact he didnt have a will and they have 4 children together or by first marriages, and want to know if the stepmother has to sell the properties to pay me my portion if I request it.She lives in the house they owned together, and my grandmothers property is either rented or not lived in. Can I make her give me my part?

I had a friend living with me for about a year now. When she moved in she was told she had to pay my mom $30 a month. She never paid that and I was stupid to convince my mom to just let her stay. I also loaned her $250 along the way. Which she has yet to pay back.
A couple of months ago she went into rehab and left all her stuff here at my house. Well my family moved and a lot of her stuff is jammed into a room that you cant even walk into. I have a few of her DVD's and her Subs in my car. She is demanding that stuff back and is refusing to pay me. She is saying that she has paid me back in gas money and food. We shared the food we both bought and I carted her around in my car for about 7 months since she didnt have a license anymore.
She is threating me with cops and everything. I have told her I would give her her stuff when I get my money. How should I go about getting my money, and handeling her.

I'm primarily concerned with the abotion issue. If there are any organizations strictly or specifically focused on this issue (and maybe the death penalty) could someone please let me know.

I'm also looking for a group that is not radical in their undertakings and acts reasonable and responsible. I know some groups take protests too far. Any resouces would be helpful.

If it is looked upon as an occupation, and regulated, I think all the crime associated with it would be gone.
