California law is going to make spanking any child under the age of 3 against the law. What do you say?

I say the government has already poked it's nose in the home too much already. Kids today have no respect for their elders because they were raised by the 'pansy' generation. My parents spanked me when I screwed up and I deserved it every time. And quite frankly, I plan to spank my kid if they deserve it.

Next thing you know, the government will make it illegal to buy single ply toilet paper for homes with kids, because their delicate as$es might get chafed.

It’s not about to become a law in CA. It’s been proposed, but the chances of it becoming a law are INCREDIBLY slim. It’s a ridiculous infringement of parental rights.

Spanking a child (which is a different thing than beating) is not abuse. A parent has a right to discipline their child. There are too many children in the world today who feel that they can do anything they want to and never have to face any consequences because mommy and daddy never enforced any consequences, because they too busy trying to be their child’s buddy instead of their parent.

With all that said, I have two children (now teenagers) and between the both of them they received maybe a total of half a dozen spankings in their lives. Mainly because in their case, there were other forms of punishment that were usually more effective. But when they need their bottoms swatted, I didn’t hesitate to do it. I just made sure I wasn’t angry when I did it (which is the mistake people often make) and sometimes that meant taking time to calm down first.

I think it is about the stupidest law I have ever heard.

I don't mean actually hurt a child but the indignity of a "spanking" is an important tool.

Chicago and California worry too much about nothing.

A swat or spanking is fine. It's a great attention getter. Beating a child is a crime. California is just plain nuts, it's the reason I left that state.

I heard that on the news, and I'm ready to lead a revolt here in California. I'm a native Californian (42yrs) and I hate what the liberal left is doing to my state...

A SPANKING is perfectly correct, and the state should get their noses out of our homes.

Spanking your child and abusing your child are 2 seperate things.
If some of these little thugs had gotten their butts spanked, maybe they would have turned into responsible citizens.

The Bible says that we parents have a RESPONSIBILITY to discipline our children. It also says that if you spare the rod, you'll spoil the child.

Parents - discipline (spank) your children when they are young, and they will be an adult with discipline. Don't discipline your children when they're young and the warden will do it for you later.

those days, my type did a unit on Persuasion. We were to position in writing essays on a particular subject matter and our address it. I chosen bullying and why it would want to be stopped. different childrens did animal abuse, newborn abuse, gas costs, homelessness (no longer very confident about this one), international warming, our monetary gadget, below the effect of alcohol driving, texting even as driving, and searching a remedy for diabetes. i'm no longer confident those matters may also help, bit it would want to spark a pair ideas as to what your speech might want to be about! good success!

Not me. I think all levels of Government have much larger issues to worry about, such as illegal immigrants. They need to stay out of personal family issues and concentrate on Protecting it Citizens.

I say that the liberals are intruding into private life. next thing you know, telling kids off for saying the f-word would be counted as infringement of freedom of speech
