My friend is a wonderful father but he hasn't seen his daughter in over a year, he pays child support but doen't have visitation rights. He had left the state to visit some of his relatives a little after his ex-wife filed for a divorce and she claimed that he had abandoned her and their daughter and somehow got full custody. He really wants to get joint custody of his daughter or atleast visitation rights but he doesn't know how to go about doing it, and he really doesn't have the money to hire a lawyer.

Can anyone help? Does anyone know someone who was in a similar situation who did this?

My friend, his ex-wife, and his daughter all live in the same area in GA, the daughter is 6 years old.

During this whole catastrophy, no homosexual has ever been interviewed on a Fox news show and asked if they embrace the behavior of Mark Foley. The only people who have been interviewed are bigots who hate homosexuals. Shouldn't a sociologist or psychologist be interviewed? Does asserting Homosexuality help Foley? How?

That would in no way excuse him for his actions. This guy was on CNN saying that Foley is in no way a pedophile because he had no sexual contact with a minor. His texts messages and emails were very explicit and posted to a child. Maybe not physical but diffenitely sexual contact.

I am going to ask a hypothetical question. It is the sort of question you may have trouble answering honestly, but I would like you to try.
It is akin to the question: if you were among the survivors of a shipwreck, in a lifeboat, would you work for the survival of the group, or would you be primarily concerned with your own survival. It would be hard to admit you would be selfish in this circumstance, so it is a hard question both to ask and answer.

Here is my question: if the country you are living in became over night a police state, would you submit to the martial law, or would you begin to work in the resistance?

Give it your best shot. Only you know if your answer is honest.

Hey all. I was illegally evicted by the renters girlfriend in 04 *while he was deployed, give 5 days notice instead of 30* The other roommate and I got an apartment more than two weeks before the eviction was filed to the court. I just found out I had been sued this past month when I checked my credit.
I was in Alaska for over a week at the time I was "served" *the papers were taped to the door of the place we were told to leave and never return* after two weeks after we left, legal in TX

MY QUESTION IS, is anyone aware if the judgement is legal bcs I was:
1.) Out of the state, working, when I was served
2.) Out of the state on the court date
3.) An Alaska resident, not Texan at any point.

I called the JP and they said that I would have to seek an attorney's advice- I just finished college and am strapped for cash. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas/insight- anything would be appreciated as the judgment is over 1500+ court fees for both my roommate and I.
THANK YOU!!!

My city sent everyone a letter reading there putting in a curb in the back of everyones yard the whole block down. They gave the option of a patition, but nothing ever came of it. Now that they tore up everyones yard to put in a stupid curb they sent all the home owners the bill. I had 45 linreird feet and it came to 1, 767!!!!!!! How can I fight this? Why should I have to pay out of my own pocket for there great ideas. Not only that but there charging us 10percent of the total every year it isn/t paid off! And we just got the bill and we havent even been given a year to pay it off before the were charged intrest!

Mark Foley has at least done the honorable thing by resigning..the efforts to minimize or spin the story by claiming alcoholism and sexual abuse by a Catholic Priest and then coming out of the closet as a GAY man speak to a double life on a scale that would be very difficult for most of us to imagine. The fear of LOSS OF POWER and RESPECT are obviuouslly huge inducements but his willigness to hide his personal truths in a pursuit of political power leaves me feeling more than a little sick.
Foley has done many great things in the pursuit of the public good how sad that his personal demons and pecadillos have brought all of that hard work to naught. Hastert MUST seriouslly look at his own future and that of his party and make the only honurable decision...resign or step aside for the coming investigation

My neighbor buys her 16 year old son cigarettes. He chain smokes them all day long. He goes to special* school so he's home all day. I know that he can't buy them - that's illegal. Is it illegal for his mother or another adult to give them to him? Is it illegal for him to smoke them?

*Does not go to school. Has a "nervous condition" which is why his mother allows the smoking. His teeth are the color of Kahlua. =)

Can we trust the system to be truthfull with the backround of Democrat's seeking to regain control of the house and Republicans desperate to retain control ways heavily in the current scandal involving Republican Congressman Foley? Is any investigation going to be tainted by bias and partisan politics. Is an independent counsel more apporopriate..Grand Jury?

I've found myself and my fiance in a somewhat dangerous and sticky situation. A few months ago, we moved in with another couple. Seemed nice enough, passed a background check, mostly nice apartment.

I have since found 2 empty stamp bags which tested positive for cocaine, the relationship between the other couple has deteriorated to the point the apartment is now excessively damaged, they're trying to pressure us into signing on the lease. We want out. Obviously we're not going to sign on the lease. My fiance and I are both working professionals. We cannot take the risk associated with addicts.

Since we are not on the lease, what are our obligations, by law?

What are some resources that could be recommended to assist us in moving safely? We're scared that if we try to move, that they may attack us or our property. We don't want to turn them in, neither myself nor my fiance have generic last names, so we could fairly easily be found after moving by public record.

Advice appreciated.

My best friend was raped 17 yrs ago...by a sick loser. They just finished the trial....the jury recommended 38 yrs( I guess it was the jury that rec it...not really sure)

I personally think he should have rec more...this was a cold case....in fact the oldest hit for a cold case(rape) in my state.

Sentencing is not until DEC.

20 yrs for kidnapping
10 yrs for the rape
3 yrs for sodomy
5 yrs for using a weapon(firearm)

Do you think he will actually get that much time....can the judge lower that amount?

He has been in prison since he was arrested for this case...maybe 1.5 yrs.

i think, signature of a person is way to get his or her handwriting specimen.if someone is doing signs in initials,i think it will become very very difficult or some times impossible even for handwriting experts to identify the handwriting becase the person who has signed, has not provided the sufficient handwriting.so i think the signs in initials should not be considered legal.what do you say? and can i legally use any thing else as my signatures, like a small picture drawn by me in place of my name as my signatures?for safety purpose should i use small signs or the longer ones?any website about this subject?are the sign done in capital letters of english valid legally? it is very easy to copy signs in capital letters and very difficult to 100% identify signs in capital letters as such signs can be done even drawing straight lines with a scale.what the law says? i am always suspicious of the relibility of persons signing in initials and signing in capital letters. should i be ?
