It depends on what state you're in for both pay and demand. Generally, the pay can range anywhere from $20k to $40k. If you're in a state that has a low population and crime rate, the demand is not as high as a state that has a high crime rate and high population. Although, since we're doing a lot of shipping of criminals around to other states to serve time, crime rate is becoming less of an influence.

They are in high demand but only because they have to be a particular person that can maintain professionalism, and narrow mind. Also, don't make much money, I would say under 20,000 to start.

I think there is always high demand for social type workers. Their salary depends upon the budget of the state they work in.
