I bought a computer from a small business in Tuscaloosa, AL. It never really worked right & the business owner was really sketchy, but I dealt with it. Well, after 2 years my computer wouldn't even turn on so I took it to him & he said he would sell it for me & give me the money. I have called him, & called him & he always puts me off. Like, "I'm busy right this second, let me call you back." and then he never will. Things like that. It has been about 3 months since my computer was "sold" & he was supposed to give me $200 for it. I am so fed up & went to the Better Business Bureau online & saw where he already has 12 complaints filed against him & he has not responded to any of them. So obviously this guy is some kind of scam artist. He has thrown excuses after excuses such as, "My dad is in the hospital." Which has made me postpone things. However, I am determined to get my money by this Fri. What can I say to him that will scare him? Or who can I call locally to get info. on this?Thx

plz settle a bet. i say warning labels r just ways for companies to cover their legal bases against future client stupidity, and don't neccessarily mean someone has actually *tried* to do what is warned against. my wife says it means some dummy has tried it, and they're warning bc of the attempt. who is right?

I keep running into this argument in some of the Q's I've posed exploring the attitude toward different policing tactics. I think the logic condones the trampling our right to personal privacy and personal safety in ordinary non-violent situations involving the police---like minor traffic violation stops, having a few drinks at a bar, and the more difficult but serious constitutionally protected situations involving the rights of protest, free speech and free assembly over political and social matters. But I am open to rebuttals to my own developing position.

Should Americans be willing to give up some of their civil liberties (i.e. rights to privacy) in order to ensure national security? Should the government be permitted to "spy" on citizens if it feels it has a reason? If you think that the government shouldn't be able to "spy" on you, is it because you are hiding something or for some other reason? I know this is a hot button issue, just thought I'd go fishing for comments, thanks!
