like you know white people turn pink when they are shy. they turn purple when they are sick. they turn grey when they die. there skin peals when they get sunburnt. why do white people call people of african decents color, although white people come in various different shades of pink. oh why do they have different hair colors and eyes....... mmmmmmmmm i wonder who are the colored

as a sociology major i have seen different answer for this. here are some of the arguments.
1 because they group every ethnic as minorities, so they have to label us by our skin tone therefore we are the colored ones.
2 because if you go by the science, white is the absence of color, it is a way of calling them selves pure. not mixed blood stuff like that.
3. no one really is white or black we are all different shades of brown, and people are just retarded
and my personal favorite
4 because one idiot said it and the rest of the inbreds repeated it.

There is short story by Arthur C Clarke that talks about an alien ship appearing in the sky and it turns out it is full of humans. What happened was that humans are not native to earth and were part of a huge pan galactic empire, when that empire crumbled, a few space ships let looking for other survivors of the empire leaving a colony on earth. That colony is of course ours. Well after millenia they are back to re introduce us with the empire. They bring the cure to all diseases and illnesses. And they also want to make sure to cure a genetic anomally that happened on this planet, the loss of pigmentation, the last line of the story goes something like this :"if any of you are still white, do not worry we come prepared heal you from that horrible disfiguring disease".
First time I read that story it made perfect sense, who gives a flying **** what color we are, we are part of the same species. If you happen to be one of those that cant see past something as little as the pigmentation of the dermis, then please keep the bed sheets on your head so at least I can recognize you from far away and make sure I change sidewalks.

Now see, how will we ever get passed racism, when stupid things like this are still being "wondered". I am really tired people! All I want, is for everyone to just let it go! African Americans and Caucasians alike. Because look at a painting from the past. White people actually were nearly white. And black people (before other racial bloods were mixed in) were actually a near black skin color. Black people today are lighter brown because they have ancestery of mixed races including white blood in some. So there is some truth in this.

white and black are technically not colors. people distinguish by what is the most obvious. for example if there is only one guy in a group of girls, you would distinguish him by his gender. only japanese guy in the group, you'd distinguish him by his ethnic origin etc.

it isn't only whites that point out color for ethnic origin, we all do
