I will give you some background...

I am a single mum to a beautiful 4 year old girl, for the last two years I have worked for a national supermarket on a 16 hours per week contract. Last year I started a degree and due to a labour match my working hours changed to three evenings (4-8PM) and a Saturday morning per week. I was able to work these hours because my daughter was in nursery 5 mornings a week and my sister who had just had a baby herself was able to pick her up and mind her for me whilst I was at university and at work.

A year later my daughter is going into full time education and my university timetable is changing, I can still work two evenings a week and Saturday morning. Yesterday I put a letter into my personnel manager requesting that the third evening shift I work be moved to a daytime shift, due to the fact that I can no longer get any childcare for a Friday evening (as my sister has gotten a bar job). My letter was briefly scanned and she said that it was "not possible to work of a daytime on any department within the store and how does my daughter going to school full time affect my working hours?" Also due to another labour match taking place the store want me to move my hours from 4PM-8PM to 5PM-9PM, I do not drive and by the time I have bussed it after working these hours and collected my daughter it would be near to 10pm.

The thought of this is making me feel physically sick, I have tried to talk to my personnel manager in the past and have heard comments such as .."its not my problem, I have a business to run", "it is always you, who has problems with childcare".

What can I do? I don't even know how to approach this without getting myself upset and not being able to get out what I want to say.

I would be grateful for any help and advice anyone can give, I have never felt so helpless as I do right now.

Thanks x

ok, a friend of mine has two children and everytime she does something that her mother doesn't like as far as raising her children, her mother throws a fit. She starts this crap about grandparents having more rights than the parents in the state of mississippi. It's really upsetting my friend and making her wonder about her mother's intentions. I'd like to know how much truth there is to her mother's whole "i'm a grandparent and i have more rights than you in the state of mississippi" trip so that i can put her mind at ease. Help Please!

I have 3 extra tickets to a Phillies game today, and I am not sure if I can legally sell these in the parking lot or not. I am not looking for a profit, I'll even settle for much less than face value. I just don't want the tickets to goto waste. Anyone know the law about ticket scalping? (or anyone want to goto a Phillies game today? I got 3 here......)

It's true. CEO's, presidents, overpay themselves OBSCENE salaries and bonuses while their employees wait in welfare lines...justification, they are in charge, tons of responsiblity, they 'build' the company.

All enron execs were responsible, even if they were clueless, which they SHOULDN'T have been. But they didn't care, they had billions to buy the best lawyer team. But John Q. Public, viewing Enron's BLATANT THEFT in contrast to petty $5 grocery store shoplifter lowest scum of the earth, didn't give a damn. ARE PEOPLE BLIND?

To whom do I address the ABUSE OF PROCESS? With the Judge or with the Administrative Judge of the Court or another entity of the court. What is usually the outcome? Can I file a motion for summary default or something?

I am pregnant and I tell my boss, well he starts by saying how the baby is going to be born into proverty and how I won't have enough money to buy it toys or even food, and how my boyfriend is just going to leave me and this goes on for about 40 minutes until I just get up and walk out. And since then it has been how much I have changed since I first started working here and they are writing up for things that they don't write other people up for.
Before I got pregnant I got promoted to Office manager (but did not get anything in writing) and now they are telling me that I did not get promoted and they have no idea what I am talking about. I get yelled at on almost an hourly basis. For the stupidest stuff, most of which is completly not my fault or out of my hands and they are also hiring someone now for when I go on Maternity leave in Janurary. Basically I feel they are trying to force me out. But the problem is I have no way to prove anything and neither do they. What do you think

My friends husband just recently left her for another woman she wants to move on and start dating again, but she believes that if she starts a romantic relationship be for their divorce is final or even filed that she will be just as wrong as he is when they go to court. She was told that the courts frown on cheating spouses. 1. Is it still considered cheating/having an affair if he walked out on her? 2. Will she have any problems when she go to court for their divorce hearing? 3. Is it ok for her to move on and start a new relationship?

Before I found out about the class action lawsuit, I was hospitalized for complications that may have been as a result of taking this drug years earlier before I had medical insurance which caused me to file bankruptcy. Will bankruptcy seized my award or will I be able to keep the award especially if the company may have been responsible in causing me to file bankruptcy couple years earlier.

But someone said this can be considered sexual assault and a felony that can lead to 3 years in prison. Is this true?

I have United Health Care and it pays for speech therapy up to age 3. My son didn't really start talking until he was about 2 1/2 so I don't think its fair to only have my insurance pay for 4-5 months of therapy. In other words he didn't really need actual speech therapy before because there was no speech to work with. Anyway short of getting an attorney does anyone have any suggestions how I can 'protest' this rule...Anybody out there work for United Health Care?

Once I was at a weightlifting event held at a Ramada inn and noticed the urinals line the wall all the way to the door with no divider. If someone chose to use the urinal beside the door and someone happened to come in at that time and before the door shuts a passerby or group of people happened to be nearby within the line of sight could this be labeled as indecent exposure if a police report is filed? This was in Tennessee.

"When a reporter makes a mistake in a magazine article, you can run a correction; but when a health care worker makes a mistake, someone can die." Reflecting on this statement, should we hold people in certain professions to higher standards of legal accountability and responsibility? What are the advantages and disadvantages of your position? How is your response to these questions consistent with the moral philosophy you described in the Unit 1 discussion board assignment? Explain. If it is not consistent with that philosophy, explain why your philosophy has changed.
