I know the only reason why people flock to America is money and nothing more.

Your view?

This is two pages long so please click link for entire story.
Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff yesterday told a House panel that his agency will not tolerate interference by so-called "sanctuary cities" when it comes to hiring illegal aliens.

Mr. Chertoff said his agency will enforce the Basic Pilot Program that requires businesses to check the legal status of new employees by matching Social Security numbers and information in Homeland Security Department databases.

Mr. Chertoff told the House Homeland Security Committee: "I certainly wouldn't tolerate interference" by cities who attempt to block the program.

"We're exploring our legal options," Mr. Chertoff said. "I intend to take as vigorous legal action as the law allows to prevent that from happening, prevent that kind of interference."

Mr. Chertoff stopped short of threatening "sanctuary cities" by withholding government funding.

"I don't know that I have the authority to cut off all Homeland Security funds if I disagree with the city's policy on immigration," Mr. Chertoff said. "And of course, I have to say the consequence of that might be to put the citizens at risk, you know, in the event of a natural disaster.

"I don't want to put people's lives at risk, but I do think where the law gives me the power to prevent anybody from interfering with our activities, we will use the law to prevent that interference," Mr. Chertoff said.

Sanctuary cities are those that have adopted policies banning police officers or other city employees from asking about immigration status. Some sanctuary cities have gone further: The city of New Haven, Conn., now issues identification cards regardless of legal status.

Presidential candidate Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo, blasted comments this week by Mexican president Felipe Calderon (pictured).

Calderon said at his State of the Union speech Sunday that he would continue to protest “unilateral actions” of the U.S. Congress that “exacerbate the persecution” of Mexican illegal immigrants in the United States. He also said that Mexico does not end at the border because “where there is a Mexican. There is Mexico.”

In a statement, Tancredo quipped: “Indeed part of Mexico is moving into the United States, but unfortunately that includes drug runners, gang violence and the Spanish language supplanting English.”

The lawmaker, famous for his tough stance against illegal immigration, added: “I’m sure the people of Mexico would be extremely grateful if Calderon showed as much concern over the well being of Mexicans unlucky enough to still live there as he does for the people who have successfully fled his country.”http://www.statesman.com/blogs/content/shared-gen/blogs/austin/immigration/entries/2007/09/05/tancredo_mexican_drug_runners.html

I can understand the desire for border security in Mexico, but that's because there is rampant illegal immigration in Mexico. However, I do not understand why the government is trying to keep people out of Canada. There is no illegal immigration problem involving Canadians. Why would Canadians want to illegally immigrate here when their country is pretty good already? The only conceivable reason Canadians would come to America (other than tourism) would be for decent health care, something they don't get in their own country.

Why is the DHS wasting so much time and money trying to make it harder for people to go to Canada? Could it be that they're trying to keep the American people in America, just like the East Germans tried to keep their people in East Germany?

It gets kind of annoying to explain which indian you are when someone asks you what race you are. Isn't rather humorous that we give them this name because some white guy couldn't admit he was lost and did not ask for directions. In other words Columbus did not want to look like an a$$ in front of his crew so he lied.

Think about it: If you're born in another country -- Austria, for example, to borrow the example of a certain Governator -- and then you travel to the U.S., you have the status of being an "alien" -- which is a legal description of a person, yes? I mean a person isn't an "alien" because of some kind of "natural" phenomenon, but because of legal terminology. Am I right?

Then if you're an Austrian who take the U.S. citizenship test and pass, and then you swear an oath to be loyal to the U.S., then **poof** you've been turned in to a citizen, which is also a legal description. But this is called "naturalization."

What's nature got to do with it? The government changed it's legal description of what you **are** but your genetic makeup didn't change.

Indeed, some people will still call you a "foreigner" as soon as they hear your accent.

Can someone help me figure out why the government called this change-'em-from-an-alien-to-a-citizen event "naturalization"...?

"LeBlanc and his colleagues found that about 14% of these samples contained haplogroup A. This haplogroup is extremely rare in the Southwest, but it occurs in about half of the population of Central America. The intermediate frequency in the sample of Western Basketmakers fits with the idea that they migrated from somewhere in central Mexico."

Forenzic tests from ancient DNA in Utah have proven that ancient Mexicans have been here since 500 B.C.

Doesn't that mean that Mexicans are Indigenous people, and hence, cannot be illegal? And if they are illegal, according to whom? According to Whites (Europeans), who are not Indigenous?

Would you also give him the right to vote and put all legal documents in his native tongue and make it a crime to ask him to learn to speak english? And forgive all his crimes. Would you give him preferential treatment over those that follow the law? Or would you have him arrested and sent to prison and deported?

mom died 3yrs ago, my dad remarried the next yr.This lady up to now is an illegal alien working in US for 5yrs and happened to be our neighbor. She's married with 2 kids aged 20-23.We dont get along with their families. We're shocked to know they got married in a short period of time in US. My sis in US told us this lady didnt stop calling him when she knew that my mom died n started flirted with my dad.We know she just want my dad's citizenship and money, we tried to inform my dad abt her intentions but he wont listen, as if he ws hynotized by that lady.Though it was hard,we accepted her w/ closed eyes bec we love our dad.Since then, our relationship with my dad started to breakdown,he treated us differently, and he hated us now. This lady made lots of stories about us,and my dad easily believe her w/o asking us the truth. She threatened us she could stop my dad to support us.She even stop my dad filing for our petiiton for US instead they filed for her children. She destroyed our fmly.

I've answered and posted Q&A in relation to illegal aliens and border crossings criminals my question now is "is there a politician wise enough to create REFUGEE CAMPS?" if the situation is SOOOOOO bad in one's home country why don't we just create you a refugee camp like those we fund elsewhere? I know they're not fun and no safer than the woerst ghetto a citizen must endure ... but surely it must be better than whence they/you come/came ..... surely you won't have to kill children or be enslaved to a diamond trade or be forced to attest a faith to which you don't believe... Tell me what you think....???

What about a 3,000 mile long, quarter mile tire fire? North winds blowing the smoke back south...

Kind of tough to climb over or under a friggin' tire fire, don't you think?

Look a little somethin' like this:

http://www.earth-link.com.hk/tire_fire04.jpg

There are tires all over the country that could be donated to the cause.

Any takers? And remember kids, coming up with solutions to protect our borders is only racist if you are a sycophant of Geraldo Rivera!

There are insolated cases where parents have seen their children starve with nothing to offer. They made the decision not to simply come across the border but to risk their lives for the sake of their children. Tell me what you would it you were in this situation? Do not tell me what I already know. I know that the law has to be broken. I know that some feel that it would send the wrong message. GOOD, knowing all of this, Tell me what would you do if you were these parents? Forget La Raza and the special interest groups. Ultimately, they will not succeed. Be that as is may, take a good long look at your children and grandchildren, would you allow them to die if breaking the law would possibly save them?

This is situational ethnics.

I do not believe in amnesty or path to citizenship, so KEEP YOUR INANE RESPONSES OF HOW I WANT THE NATION TO BE OVERRUN WITH ILLEGALS!!!!!!!!!.

My grandparents came from Italy. When my mom was young, people used to call her "Blacky" because of her darker skin. During WWII they enudured a lot of harrassment because of the Italy association with the tyrant, Mussolini. I'm now thinking I am entitled to some money because of all of the suffering of my people, pretty much like the American Indians or African Americans. Italian Americans have also suffered immensely, and I am wondering where I go to get some money to help me ease the pain of my people and compensate for this suffering.
Thanks!

I'm not an economist but it looks to me like this is the real choice that the US must make to have a realistic relationship with Mexico and cooperation to help control illegal entry.

And understand when I say export jobs: many of those jobs do not exist in the US today so they are not hurting US citizens. And more opportunity and prosperity for people in Mexico is not a bad thing for the US people.

With military force in the last century? Sometimes I wonder, since we love to use military force against brown, little
countries that don't behave. And the Mexican President constantly bosses our's around. Truth is both governments probably know something we don't....and they probably
think we need Mexico as much as they need us.
What do you think??
