Why is it that the Amnesty crowd calls Illegal Aliens (trespassers) Migrant workers. Do they not acknowledge the illegality of the trespassers actions?

Activists know that words are important and that you can tilt a debate in your favor by controlling the terms of the discussion.

You see this on both sides of the abortion debate. There are really two sides. One wants to murder unborn babies, the other wants to enslave women. The baby-murders call themselves 'pro-choice' and and the misogynistic slavers call themselves 'pro-life.'

You also see this in the debate on illegal immigration. The pro-illegal side tries to garner sympathy for illegal aliens by speaking of them in broader terms, as 'immigrants' (grouping them with legal immigrants) or 'undocumented workers' (grouping them with anyone, immigrant or citizen, who works 'under the table'). In addition to being excessively broad, these terms also exclude some illegal aliens. 'Undocumented worker' excludes the many illegal aliens who are not employed (such as children brought here illegally by their parents), 'migrant worker' lumps them with any persons who work in different places seasonally (for instance, a college student who works in the fishing industry in Alaska in the summer is a migrant worker, even if he came from Seattle) and 'immigrant' excludes illegal aliens who come here to work (typically seasonally) but not settle.

Illegal alien, OTOH, precisely describes those persons who are in America illegally. That includes migrant workers who cross the border illegally, immigrants who are smuggled through our ports in containers, and persons who overstay thier visas to remain in America for whatever reason.

Well, it is just to much to be able to put Illegal--meaning not here legally--and Alien--meaning not a Citizen--together for them.

The fact is that the "pro-amnesty" bunch are mostly "Hispanic" rights organizations and big businesses that intend to profit from the Amnesty.

Few--if any--normal working joes support Illegals. That is why almost 7/8th of Citizens are totally against any sort of Amnesty, regardless of the name that it is called.

We did that once in 1987 under Reagan and it was a failure.
In fact this Amnesty plan was the same basic scam that was pulled off under Reagan. The Lawyer speak may be different but the result would have been the same.

And no the invaders can not see that they are breaking the law, as they are "entitled" to be here, or so they think.

They are very separate terms. Many legal immigrants are migrant workers. A migrant worker is one that travels between many different (normally farming/picking/harvesting) jobs. An illegal alien is a person who has entered (or remained in) the country contrary to immigration laws. They may be unemployed or work in any industry. A guy I worked with in the tech industry technically became a illegal alien for about a day while paperwork flew about. He was in no way a migrant worker.

Migrant workers usually moves where the crops need to be harvested, so he could be illegal or not. Now those that want amnesty like to use the term migrant worker for all, that way they can confuse the line between ilegal and llegal

Political correctness - the pill that sweeps the truth under the rug.

They want us to start believing that these people aren't ILLEGAL and they want us to believe that those people haven't committed a crime. "Undocumented immigrants" is an even MORE ridiculous term used now. THEY ARE ILLEGAL - that's why we call them illegal.

I'm right there with you on this issue!

EDIT: and sorry, I am not speaking of migrant workers. There are PLENTY of migrant workers that are legal. I was talking about the political correctness of the terms people are using.

They are 2 different things. Both are illegal and both need to be removed from our country any way possible.

Migrant workers are almost always illegal (some are actually legal) but they migrate all over looking for jobs depending on the season (usually farming or construction).

Your typical illegal goes to 1 place and gets a job there and stays.

We have migrant workers who are perfectly legal. Take a look at H2A (numerically unlimited seasonal visa) for example.

This term I would only use for someone that is actually temporarily, and, with legal permission to be here. Migrant workers come into the US for a few months to work, and, then move back to their home.

I say "undocumented worker" or "undocumented Migrant" for a couple reasons. First, I am employed in such a field that I use PC language. I don't intentionally do it, it is how I speak naturally. Secondly, the definition of the aforementioned is accurate.

The "Immigrants" are called Illegal Aliens. They are Criminal Invaders and MUST be treated as such.

because to call them anything other than migrant worker would be to knowingly call them to task for breaking the law and in this society of war on the middle class in america you want to be politically correct far be it to actually call something what it is
