If we don't want the illegals here, then why do we make their children, born here while they are here illegally, United States citizens? Isn't that giving them a mixed message? I'm not taking sides, just trying to get an answer to something that doesn't seem logical.

The Mexican Senate is urging President Felipe Calderon to send a stern note protesting the U.S.’s deportation of Elvira Arellano. Arellano is the illegal immigrant who had taken refuge in a Chicago church for the last year. She was apprehended and deported by U.S. authorities after she snuck out of the church and gave a speech to an illegal immigrant rights rally in Los Angeles.

“For the Americans to deny her the human right to live in freedom and prosperity and forcibly send her back here is a crime,” charged Senator Ernesto Mentiroso (PRD-Sonora). “Mexico is no place for a single woman like Senora Arellano to raise a son. The opportunities are much better in the United States.”

Mentiroso also asserted that since Arellano had already illegally entered the United States twice she should have the right to stay in America. “This woman has run the gauntlet of the American border twice,” said Mentiroso. “It is her determination to be in America. It should be her right to stay in America.”

The Senate approved a scholarship to help Arellano’s 8-year-old U.S.-born son, Saul, “should he suffer the misfortune of ending up in Mexico like his mother.” Saul is still in the United States.“For the Americans to deny her the human right to live in freedom and prosperity and forcibly send her back here is a crime,” charged Senator Ernesto Mentiroso (PRD-Sonora). “Mexico is no place for a single woman like Senora Arellano to raise a son. The opportunities are much better in the United States.”
This, from a Mexican Senator leaves me speechless and breathless.

No one has addressed the immoral actions of Mexico's ruling class of actively deporting/exporting those who they feel are the undesirable segment of their population to the U.S.?

I'm singling out Mexico since they've been able to "cleanse" their country of around 10% of it's population, who are now illegally in the U.S.

I think marrying someone for to help then get their greencard is greedy and wrong. Dileberately taking advantage of eachother. I thought marraige was a sacred thing. Apparently not when money is involved. I want to report someone and prevent this from happening. I strongly feel that this person is making a big mistake for the man marrying her is going to move with her far away. I know I will miss the girl moving but I want to prevent it for I feel this is the biggest mistake in her life. Please help me figure out how to resolve this anonymously. Thanks M

For everyone against illegal aliens, I have a question. I'm not saying I'm for or against them, I want to consider all viewpoints and formulate an opinion. So, here's my question. If we don't legalize the illegal workers, who is going to pay for our retirement? We are now paying social security contributions so that the baby boomers (and older) can enjoy a nice comfortable retirement, but we have no hope of this for ourselves as there are not enough younger workers to support our retirement. The wild card in all this is the illegals. If they were made legal, then they and their children (and they tend to have more children than average) would be paying into the system for years to come, funding our retirement. As things are, illegals don't contribute to social security. Could legalizing the illegals be the solution to the social security funding crisis?
I'm a legal immigrant, and realize this is an inflammatory issue! My question takes a practical, not ethical, viewpoint.

I am a us citizen who had a daughter born overseas. i had to pay a lot of money to get her visa, after she was here then all i had to do was get her a us passport since by law she is a us citizen. how is it possible that we want to allow illegals the opportunity to stay w/o paying penalties. I have family overseas, but if i see that the govt is opening the door for legality to all those here, i will call all my friends and family to cross the border quick! by the way, i am a proud legal latina. my racism is against all people that want to change the rules of other countries instead of helping their own country evolve. pay your fees!

My wife and I make about 100,000 to 120,000 a year between the both of us. That may not seem a lot to some people but I feel very blessed. To show my graditude My wife and I try to pay for at least two of our family members in Mexico a year to come here legally. Even with the money paid it still is a lot of work. I am determined to get as much of my family here legally as I can. I am so passionate about people trying to make a better life for themselves I am willing to open my own pocket book. I was just curious if anti illegal immigrant supporters have a problem with this even though its legal. In my opinion I think your a racist if you do have a problem with this.

We have bigger problems than illlegal Immigration! Our own citizens cannot get along in this day and age! This is 2007 people why is this still going on and why isn't the government stepping in to do something? This makes me very sad! I cannot believe people are still this ignorant! According to the web page there are still shops that REFUSE service to other races! How dare they!? This is a free country! In my opinion, these are the people that we need to get rid of! I am talking about the racism in Jena, Louisianna. I wonder how many other towns are like this.

If illegal immigrants are legalized, and allowed to tap into their Social Security contributions made while they were here illegally, it could cost the nation over $200 billion and further jeopardize the financial health of the Social Security system.

So says the Senior Citizens League, a nonpartisan group whose mission is to advocate for seniors.

I was just curious as to why some people don't become U.S. citizens and still have a green card even after many decades here. My friend's dad came from Germany at age 10 and he is now 48 and he says he doesn't want to become a US citizen because it would be like denying his roots. Do you know anyone like this? How old were they when they came and how old are they now? By the way I came here when I was 3 and I'm 30 now. I never gave it much thought to become a naturalized citizen because I've always considered myself American but I plan on doing it so I can vote.

Seems to me it should. Its patently obvious which ethnic communities fit in and which dont. Im generalising of course, but i think you have to.

Generally speaking Polish, Czechs, Mid Eastern christians, Jews, Chinese and non muslim Indians fit in to the UK fairly well, ie respect for the native culture, integration and assimilation, respect for the law, loyalty to the UK, employment etc.....whereas Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Afro-Carribeans, Somalis, Afghans, Kurds, Albanians do not fit in so well, they are less likely to assimilate and integrate, less likely to have a job, have a higher percentage involved in crime and in the prison system etc.

Surely also, people who are ethnically of British origin, ie people living in USA, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Zimbabwe etc should surely have more right to enter UK than a bangladeshi, or even an Assyrian (like myself!).

It seems if the UK accepted immigrants based on their culture, religion, ethnicity etc Britain would be better off?

If we were truly racist we would want ALL the immigrants of color to be gone, and would ignore all white illegals. For that matter if racism was at the root of it, there wouldn't be ANY legal Mexican immigrants instead of being the most common type.

Build the wall!
Deport the illegals!

They can't. There illegal!!! They have no I.D's, birth certificates or ssn cards. And! don't even try to say they have fake info because the government would not allow 20 million people to have fake info. Plus, Mexicans were here first before John Smith and his posse came up and snatched our land. Ok. Mexicans were here with the indians.

I am just wondering with all the news coverage that illeagals should automatically be deported, when caught breaking the law. I assumed that most Mexicans in our prison systems were illegal.
