I was born in America so I already have a U.S citizenship but I'd like to get a Canadian or Japanese Citizenship in my free time as I have family up there and I'm considering moving to one of those in a few years....

It depends entirely on the countries involved.

But personally, I dont agree with it. I mean, pick a nation and support it. BE THAT COUNTRY. Dont just cherrypick what benefits you want from which system.

Japan does not allow for dual citizenship. If you want to become Japanese think about giving up your American citizenship, marry a Japanese person, learning Japanese and living in the country for a very long time before you even become eligible. The Japanese are very big on bloodlines (if you think the Germans are bad the Japanese are worse).

Usually you do not get citizenship in "your free time" you need to spend a certain amount of time in the country (you will find that if you want citizenship there are restrictions placed on how long you can be away from the country especially in the final year before you apply), prove that you will not drain the country's resouces and public funds as well as be of decent standing (the less of a criminal record you have the better).

I think you may be better of with just getting something similar to the Canadian/Japanese version of the US green card because that will allow you to stay there indefinately but not be submitted to voting though you won't have full rights like a citizen (such as a passport) but you may get health care.
