Goldenrae9 - I have been working with Spanish speaking immigrants for more than 30 yrs. and I speak fluent Spanish.
I am far from naive about it. I speak in Spanish all day long and know the people very well.

The answer to your question is simple. Many people use "fake IDS" and PODS. The fact that a person claims to be an "illegal immigrant" doesn't necessarily make that true. Anyone can identify "fakes" from "reals". Most people who ask questions like the ones you mentioned are antis posting as "illegals".

I suggested that they have an immigration policy and immigration questions forum.

It makes me mad when I see what I think is a genuine question, and people are making flip remarks which could harm the questioner if taken seriously.

On the other hand, it is nice to have spirited debates about policy (we can do very little about it and so you can go wild with commentary).

If you know what their talking about it isn't among themselves. If it was in Spanish did you translate it or was it told to you by a second source?
Seeing that you are close enough to hear and can translate or has some one translate to you all you have to do is answer them and maybe they will stop doing this thing that bothers you.

It is against community guidelines for anyone to use a foreign language on this site. There are foreign language Yahoo! Answers sites for those people to use. It is RUDE to be on this site and use a foreign language.

Report them when they do.

I would suggest volunteering and working with immigrants to understand it better. To be honest, it sounds like you are bit naive about it.
