I more than agree that Carlos Carilla should be removed from his current position, after reading the article posted under the question ( for some reason it seems other responders did not read) shows in all actuality the he does not understand or comprehend what his job is there for. For him to even say his job is to keep out terrorist and their weapons only; proves that he is incompetent and should be removed immediately. I would like for someone to ask him; if 9/11 never happened what would his job description be? I bet he'd have another excuse not to preform his duties.

On August 15th, Carlos Carillo the director of the Border Patrol in Laredo, Texas, speaking in Laredo, said the patrol's mission is not to stop illegal immigrants or criminals but to focus on terrorists and keep them from entering the country. Carrillo is minimizing the need to stop all illegal immigrants which is outrageous. At this time when our borders are awash in illegal aliens to have a director of the border patrol make such an asinine statement can only mean that he has no intention of enforcing the laws of the United States an therefore should be fired

As a CBP Officer I was appalled by his statements, but sadly I was not shocked. Unfortunately we have some real, real stupid people that rise to positions of power in our agency (for a number of reasons) They get brain washed and try to prove what good managers they are by playing the Company Line. Don't get me wrong, there are some very good Supervisors, and usually you only deal with them, but sometimes you don't have a choice but to deal with the idiot.

I don't know how many times we have gone to a Supervisor with a violation (either Customs or Immigration related) only to hear them so "So what? What is our number one priority?" Of course the answer is terrorism, but then you point out that it is not our only priority, or else he would have phrased it that way "What is our priority?" To say number one, there must be a number two, three and four. The blank stare I get back is sometimes funny, sometimes exasperating.

I have seen Supervisors let in people coming to work on a B2 visa (they admitted it during the interview), I have seen them let in felons, I have seen Seizures denied. All because they weren't terrorist related. Now don't get me wrong, if I look up and see Bin Laden is the next in line, that obviously is our number one issue. But when there is no one else in line, and nothing else to do, I don't see what the problem is enforcing one of those other 399 laws we enforce. The real kicker is we had a guy last week who probably was here for no good. I can't even take the time to tell you how bad his story was, but they didn't have the guts to use terror laws against him (as in likely to commit our aid). They used intended immigrant charges instead. Way easier to get a waiver for in the future and come back. Then they paroled him in with his family for a night and asked him to come back for his flight out the next day (WTF). I saw a lot of officers on usajobs after that one.

Does Carilla need to find a new job? Absolutely. Will he have to? Probably not. He is a Sector Chief, and I can not even figure out a way to explain how high ranking that is. He is golden.

You read and hear what you want to hear. This clouds your mind, let me smoke what you smoke.
1. He is appointed by the DJ approved by Congress, that is why Congress can request his presence at any time.
2. He has earned his rank, as his superiors saw fit.
3. DHS now runs BP, USC, INS hence ICE.
He follows the SOP an instructions even when he does not agree with them. Look at the History of the BP & those that served as well as those that give their lives to enforce the Laws.
Do you question the Hispanics in Command in Iraq? How about those now serving? Yes, like every race/ethnic people here, we have our rotten apples - we deal with them - why do you think Mexico gets so much HR abuse, like when we cry the justice system serves the outlaw.
I believe a little bit of history for you is necessary.
Lost child, you are.

The two border patrol agents in jail for shooting the drug smuggler in the butt are also Hispanic. There are a lot of hispanics in that region of our country. That is not the issue. That he doesn't consider stopping illegal immigration to be a primary part of his job description IS the issue.

Border Patrol Chief is not an elected position, it's an appointed position. Appointed by the government, who is behind illegal immigration.
Like I said before, they are in every level of American government and society, from the fast food industry all the way up. Watch out America, they are getting set up. !

Carlos Carilla could have double allegiance. He must be fair in the application of the Immigration Laws in favor of the US government.
