Even though we have the laws in place its obvious that people arent following them. I do however think that the media blows things out of proportion but I dont think the majority of Americans are easily manipulated. All the time on the news (Orange County- CA) they have Immigration stories and interview a sad immigrant who cant speak English. But Im not gonna fall for it and I dont know anyone who supports illegal Immigration who doesnt personally have a family member here Illegally.

I'm fairly certain that this problem of the general public being easily influenced by the media is not American-exclusive. It happens all over the world.

The reason is not that people are stupid. Most people actually aren't that unintelligent. It's that they're lazy. What's easier? Scouring the Internet to find news sources that are actually reliable or flipping on your television in the morning while you're getting ready for work. All you need is one five-second clip about how illegal immigrants are trying to take the English language away from America (ignorant), and you have something to talk about with your coworkers while at lunch. "Hey, did you hear about those Mexicans that are not only taking our jobs but our language, too? Man, we have to do something about that! I don't want my kids learning Spanish in school. This is AMERICA and we speak English here." The person speaking is not necessarily any stupider than the average human, but is just too lazy to look up real facts.

The media makes it very easy for its viewers to falsely believe that they know what is going on in the world. I mean, it was on THE NEWS so it must be true, right?

Because they have been taught tolerance and if it sounds good believe it.... Media wont have barring on the election humans are gull able at times but I think most make educated decisions on who to vote for ... Unfortunately for many they can't seem to vote outside their party preference....

Of it is immigration you say is media forced and causes hatred you are sadly mistaken..This is an issue that needs much attention and better solutions for ..Yes, we have decent immigration laws in place but it is getting Government to uphold the laws which in most cases they don't....

You have to look around you to see what illegal immigration is doing to America and get the facts straight.... Come to Cali you can learn allot here about what it can do and why the issue is important.. especially to hard work tax paying generations of citizens...

this is 2009 and virtually 2010. i replaced into in Europe for incredibly a at an analogous time as and had many white eu pals and that i individually have not got self assurance neither one people replaced into below the effect that the everyday public on the two element hated one yet another. this is a number of historic past yet even then for the main area we've been extra allies than enemies formerly and after those wars so no, white individuals do no longer hate white Europeans.

This American doesn't believe a WORD on the media. I research for reliable sources (you know, sources that have been right almost always before!)

My attention is NOT away from Iraq. Why do you assume that Americans can only fight one battle at a time? We're not mexicans, ya know ... we have a spine and the ability to multitask efficiently.

True, we Americans are a trusting people. We also have our own eyes and ears. We trust until that trust is broken and then there is hell to pay. We can only be pushed and tramp led on so far.We have a history too.Anyone or anything who pushed us too far usually comes out with the short stick in the end.

I don't have a T.V., don't read the paper, and visit very few websites on the ol internet and think illegal immigration is the biggest problem facing America present time. No media influence here, just walk out my front door and see first hand the illegal immigration problems. Have you been to Home Depot lately.

Americans are so influenced by the media because everything we own is media... Computers (Internet), TVs, radios/music, newspapers, cell phones, and magazines... I hate it too. That's why 99% of the population hates the way they look... Back in, oh say Abe Lincoln's time, people weren't so obsessive of their looks, of this or that.... they had their own opinions

When they close hospitals in YOUR town because illegals are using the emergency rooms to treat their colds and deliver their babies, THEN you can preach to the rest of us.

Now pointing out the ridiculousness of your argument -- Politicians from both parties AND the media have been trying their best since 2005 to make us forget and forgive when it comes to illegals because big businesses want them to stay.
