The Mexican Senate is urging President Felipe Calderon to send a stern note protesting the U.S.’s deportation of Elvira Arellano. Arellano is the illegal immigrant who had taken refuge in a Chicago church for the last year. She was apprehended and deported by U.S. authorities after she snuck out of the church and gave a speech to an illegal immigrant rights rally in Los Angeles.
“For the Americans to deny her the human right to live in freedom and prosperity and forcibly send her back here is a crime,” charged Senator Ernesto Mentiroso (PRD-Sonora). “Mexico is no place for a single woman like Senora Arellano to raise a son. The opportunities are much better in the United States.”
Mentiroso also asserted that since Arellano had already illegally entered the United States twice she should have the right to stay in America. “This woman has run the gauntlet of the American border twice,” said Mentiroso. “It is her determination to be in America. It should be her right to stay in America.”
The Senate approved a scholarship to help Arellano’s 8-year-old U.S.-born son, Saul, “should he suffer the misfortune of ending up in Mexico like his mother.” Saul is still in the United States.“For the Americans to deny her the human right to live in freedom and prosperity and forcibly send her back here is a crime,” charged Senator Ernesto Mentiroso (PRD-Sonora). “Mexico is no place for a single woman like Senora Arellano to raise a son. The opportunities are much better in the United States.”
This, from a Mexican Senator leaves me speechless and breathless.

She has to do the right thing and fix it so she can come back legally and she can have all the oportunities that she wants. Let the Mexican government take care of her since it`s supposed to be so awful for her. She can get her son to be with her and if he needs an education-it can be done on-line. Denying her freedom?? Is she in a Mexican jail? I doubt it. There`s jobs there and I`m sure she`s eating tamales and not starving. Where`s her relatives to help her? What about people she knows who are legal to send her a bunch of money? She`s illegal so that means all illegals are "poor me",don`t take me away? One woman out of millions and they make a big stink-stupid.

"Mexico is no place for a single woman like Senora Arellano to raise a son" said Mexico Senator Ernesto Mentiroso.
Really? Then why doesn't Mexico promote birth control, make rape illegal (in some Mexican states rape is legal), and give free abortions to all unmarried pregnant Mexican women in Mexico? Then no "single women" will ever have to raise a child alone in a nation like Mexico, where their own elected officials think it is no decent place to raise children.
Who cares what the Mexican Senate has to say, obviously the senators are complete morons, judging by Senator Ernesto Mentirosos idiocy.
The people the United States did not elect Senator Mentirosos or any other Mexican in Mexicos senate to our government, and we never will.We don't give a rats behind what any Mexican says or thinks about anything we do.
Arellano is a convicted felon, she was legally deported, let Mexico pay to support her now.
Thanks for the laugh. You made my day.

Mexico enforces it's harsh immigration laws and deport more annually than the US. They can shut the heck up and stay out of our business. They need to change and improve conditions there, so people like Arellano can raise their children there. Running the border at least twice makes her a felon here, being in Mexico illegally once makes someone a felon there.
Arellano has no rights here, period. I personally believe she should have been prosecuted, convicted and imprisoned before her deportation. Mexicans with children born outside Mexico can apply at any consulate for a certificate for citizenship for their child. Arellano needs to do so and never cross the border again.
Mexico needs to fix their own problems and stop encouraging them to come to the US. The Senator is a posturing fool.

Mentiroso needs to get his a** on the ball and do his job. Where is Mexico's lending hand to a single mom? When did single Mexican moms become a US problem? Mentiroso should be working with the Mexican government to improve the lives of it's people not demand that we take whoever can't afford to live there.
Besides, whose going to take anybody with a name like Mentiroso seriously? Mentiroso means liar in Spanish. His name in the article makes it sound like a joke to me.

I thought Menotrosa means red mints.
Oh well. I think some of the people here are right. Our number one priority is to bring our troops back home. SO we could send them and squash the Peepsqueek of a Mexican Government. They seem to admit they are violating Human rights by not giving a reasonable standard of living totheir people and forcing them here. WE should spend the billions in rebuilding Iraq closer to home. Besides, Mexico is an oil producing nation.

their politicians are a bunch of corrupt hypocritical assholes. They are the people who have the chance to change policy and make Mexico a better place and they won't do it so they can line their own pockets. Mexico has the oil and natural resources to be a very wealthy country and that is the what rubs me the most about this. They could be just as prosperous as the US if the people just stood up for themselves.

This Senator's name fits him well. NO SEAS TAN MENTIROSO! jajaja. What a prick! We have every right to deport illegal immigrants, just like every country does. He doesn't get it that illegal immigration should be a crime in any country. We have the right to protect our country. Grow up and stop looking for loopholes. Cheesh! Thanks!

Talk about being handed your hat and being shown the door, the Mexican government has no shame or minces no words when it tells it's citizens that when they are poor and uneducated the USA is the promised land

Illegal Immigrant. That should take care of any problem. Illegal has a new meaning now? It's Illegal to rob a bank. But if you need the money to get a better life should the law be changed? We don't need new immigration laws. We have immigration laws use them.
