I agree 100%! Illegal is illegal no matter how you slice it. This is a legal issue and if Mexicans are the greatest in number who are invading our country, of course, they've come under scrutiny. I still feel that our nation does not owe anyone the chance to live here. Yet we have a liberal immigration policy that is not enough for the illegals who think they have a divine right to invade our nation. Build the fence, enforce our border laws and deport all illegal aliens yesterday!

Exactly what the other one has said....deportation issue is not a race issue as some are trying to make it.....it is a legal issue. The fact that a large % of our illegals here are from Mexico still does not make it a race issue but directs the issue to the border. Other countries from overseas would have a much harder time getting into our country...they can't just ride a truck in or would be much harder for them.
I live in a rural area of MS that uses many of the Mexicans to work, they aren't taking jobs away from anyone. They are doing a work that our so called labor force not employed doesn't want to do because "they draw a check from our government to do nothing". This group drawing government medicaid here doesn't even want to pay the $3 copay at our doctors offices but have cell phones, etc. But you let us have a working Mexican come in and when their exam is over they walk out with their wallet in their hand no matter what the cost and pay.
We need to get this issue resolved, find a way to secure the borders, let the working ones that want a better life obtain status to come here legally. We have laws and all classes need to learn to obey them. Coming here illegally is breaking a law just like breaking any other law so they should expect fines and sent back.....then come in the right way and not have to look over their shoulders.

Interesting that people here generalize that all of those who attack illegal immigration attack Mexicans????
Actually after responding to some *#@! I realize that one of the things Pro-illegals state is Mexicans would do the jobs that Americans won't do. It's kind of a racist statement. Other than the obvious, Those who said it are ignoring the fact that there are other nationalities that are willing to do those jobs other than Mexicans. Isn't it wrong for them to pretend other ethnicities other than Mexicans and AMericans are out there.

The deportation of illegals isnt a racism issue......its a legal and national security issue. Racism is just being used as a tool (and it is becoming a more frequently used tool) by those who oppose the law and the media who support those who oppose the law.

Most Americans are not racists, even among the ones who want to deport all the illegal immigrants. There are some out there who are racists, and some of them do make statements only about the illegals because they know that they can't get much sympathy for their real agenda.
American immigration policy has some strange features that are not intentionally racist, but do restrict Mexicans more than anyone else. There is a rule that no more than 1/7 of new immigrants in a year can come from any given country. This has serious consequences for people wanting to come in from Mexico and the Philippines, moderate consequences for people wanting to come from India, and matters very little to any other country.
Anyways, I don't think that most of the people who want to make serious changes to border enforcement are racists, but I do think that they don't really understand the role than illegal immigrants play in our society. They keep labor costs down, which makes a lot of goods and services a lot cheaper than they would be otherwise. Given that we are in a long stretch of low unemployment, I don't think you can really argue that these people are taking jobs away from people in the US legally. It is true that they are "cutting in line" in front of people trying to get in the legal way.
Raise the immigration quotas!

You're right.
It may SEEM "racist" because 85% of the mexicans in the US right now, are in fact, ILLEGAL ALIEN CRIMINALS.
(source: http://www.csmonitor.com/2006/0706/p09s01-coop.html)
In actuality, "mexican" is, at least partially, WHITE in race. Mexican, in and of itself, is not a race. mexican is a nationality. Hispanic is an ethnicity, or culture.
How can you be "racist" against an ethnicity? You can't.
How can you be "racist" against a culture? You can't.
You can only be "racist" if you think your own race is superior to another race. I don't see that mentality at all.

You do not know much about America! Only Whites had legal Rights before the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
