I applied for citizenship and i got my first appointment letter in the mail, it was for the fingerprinting. the problem is that i already had an airplane ticket payed for. at the bottom of the letter that i got from the USCIS it had an option to reschedule, so i had to send the letter back to my local USCIS office in Santa Ana California. My question is, Did i have to call and then send the letter or was sending the letter all i needed to do?
this problem came up because i was rushing through everything and i did not take the time to think things over.
I would like to get an answer from people who have been trough this process or people who know about this.

I'm a lawful US permanent resident; I want to deliver my baby in the PHilippines and take it back to US after I gave my birth. Can I do that? What would be the citizenship of the child then the father is a US Citizen but the child was born in the Philippines. What will be the steps for me to do when I take it back to US. I just want to deliver my baby in my home country and stay there for six months then come back again here in US? Will they allow us to come back together then me and my baby though I'm a lawful permanent resident

You can do nothing but talk about it or you can contact your legislative people to let them know how you feel. I think we need to (1) secure the border, (2) round up, register and teach the illegals the correct way of entering the US then deport them (any illegal alien not turning him/her self in during the designated period would be jaild and deported and not allowed back into the United States for three years), (3) establish a better work program (managed by a government contractor (9 regional work management centers throughout the United States), (4) make employers request alien workers through the work centers who would process them through to the employer and see the worker is properly protected, and (5) fine any employer who knowingly employees an illegal alien a minimum of $5,000.00 plus ten times any wages and benefits not properly paid and/or reported for the first offense and $20,000.00 for the second violation. Any better ideas that congress and the senate should know ?

how about we replace some of our tired troops with the illigals here in us,and let them fight for their right to share our country and the benifits that it brings them? it seems fair to me. my greatgrandfather and my great uncle both died for this country to give me an oppurtunity to work and live and pay taxes here. it seems like a little compromise on their part might get americans to be a bit more acceptive of them. let them earn the right to be americans.

Lots of people on this site are very passionate about the immigration issue, so I figured I'd pose a question and see just what it is that you would prefer:

1. Nothing gets done in congress and the immigration situation continues as it has been for years with illegal immigrants crossing our borders and their population steadily increasing.

2. The senate bill passes, legalizing those already here but at the same time shutting down the border and effectively stopping the influx of illegal immigrants.

The fact is that one of these two will happen, and before you respond saying that in option 2 they'll never shut the border down, there's a proposed ammendment to have the funding available the second the bill is signed, so if it passes the enforcement will happen. Nevertheless, which option would you rather have? Give your reason.

When a company hires and illegal, they don't pay taxes on behalf of the illegal. They pay no healthcare either or unemployment insurance etc. Many times, they don't even pay the minimum wage. These costs become 'external' to the company and instead are absorbed by the local and state governments.

Should we raid companies more often (than nearly nil which is what we do now), find out how many illegals they have and then bill the company for the money they are costing the public sector?

Amnesty = the act of an authority (as a government) by which 'pardon' is granted to a large group of individuals.

Pardon = to release (a person) from punishment; exempt from penalty: a convicted criminal who was pardoned by the governor. 2. To let (an offense) pass without punishment

How does that translate into having to pay fines, having to leave the country to apply for legal residency and having to pay back taxes??

There will be another hearing today in a federal courtroom on the ACLU's attempt to force the U.S. government to search in Mexico for a developmentally disabled Lancaster man who was wrongly deported.

Guzman is a 29-year-old U.S. citizen who was serving time in the Los Angeles County Men's Central Jail for a misdemeanor trespassing conviction when he was deported to Tijuana in May.

His mother, brother and sister-in-law traveled to Tijuana and searched shelters, jails, churches, hospitals and morgues, but have not found him and fear for his safety.

What do you think about the ICE's fu** up? DEPORTING A US CITIZEN? wow!
Do you think he should sue the USCIS/ICE?

Since the immigration bill was rejected by the american people, this president is now pledging money for border security, where was he with this money when millions of illegals were crossing the border in front of his eyes because of a shortage of border patrol agents, why didn't he sent our troops to the border instead of Iraq, where they are getting killed, kidnapped or sent to jail by our own government

Maybe we should encourage people to walk across the border from Mexico. After a while there would be such a flood of immigrants that many wouldn't be able to find work anywhere. If, as they say, they do the jobs that Americans don't want to do, let's let them do them. Let's go down ourselves and bring them back. What it would do is to drive down THEIR wages and consumer costs. Eventually, because the pickin's in the U.S. weren't as good as they now are, they'd quit coming and many already here would go home.

There are people who immigrated to this country from Europe on boats and got citizenship right away. People coming from Cuba and Haiti come on boats and some get turned back and die back in their country.

There are others, like myself, who immigrated here legally and had to wait 5 years before I could even file for citizenship.

In the new immigration bill those who are undocumented have to go through a lengthy process up to 12 years, learn English and many other things before citizenship is even put on the table. What is the big deal? Sign it and lets stop the illegal activity. Do you really want this to continue?
