I find it insulting that the President would say that Americans wont do certian jobs. I know plenty of Americans who make a living roofing, doing lawn work, farm work, factory work, construction and many other hard-backbreaking jobs. He is either out of touch with reality or trying to get cheap labor for his corporate buddies.

if you are jobless and moaning and complaing about "illegals" taking American jobs, why don't you go and take the job away, if you know they are illegal.

It isn't that they do jobs Americans won't thats a big issue. It's the fact that come over here illegally that makes a big deal. The effect illegal immigrants are damaging our country. And it isn't neccessarily true that they work below minimum wage, they make at or maybe a little above the minimim salary. And Americans don't want jobs such as land scape or contruction working or anything that has manual labor. Which is probably why majority of this country is over weight. If someone wants to come into this country LEGALLY and work then by all means become an American. But as far as the ILLEGALS they are whats hurting us. And I think this is why immigrants aren't liked by a majority of people, because we stereo type them all as illegals. And the millions of illegal immigrants are oblivious to matter that they are hurting our country, or they just don't care.

just another example of the way a C student proclaims knowledge of a subject. No offense to C students but.......
I have seen an infiltration into many job markets by illegal mexican immigrants. Don't try to tell me that there are no American carpenters! Homebuilding and apartment maintenance are two areas that mexican illegals have taken over because they will work cheaper, but in the process have lowered the quality of the product. Who used to build Americas highways? Who used to build Americas new homes? Hey Georgie, America knows your an idiot. Everyone in the world tells him he's wrong, so, he does what he wants anyway. Gee what a great president, NOT!

What about all of the American workers that lose their jobs working in the car factories due to down sizing? I am sure they would be glad to do a job an illegal does to put food on their families table. Oh but they would get paid minimum wage AND have TAXES taken out their check because they are legal. Now that's sad.

Yes, but Bush is wrong in thinking people will stay in these jobs. There is nothing wrong with these jobs, but eventually when more and more educational benefits and assistance programs kick in for the new legals they will be looking for better jobs and ways to improve themselves (don't blame them there).
It should be what you can do for America, not what America can do for you --and that should be followed from the start.
However, if America is going give handouts, what about these benefits for all the Americans who were born and raised here first, and not so much classified on a new group of certain heritage?

i am proud of you and those others who stand up for us americans! it is ridiculous to argue that illegal immigrants do the jobs that many americans dont want to do! why? at least they have a job! they should be thankful. it is not our fault that their country failed! besides, what happened when there were no hispanic illegal immigrants to clean the hotel rooms, work in the fields or other kinds of jobs??? we have always been an industrious country for centuries now!!!! i dont think this country would die if they stopped cleaning the hotel rooms or mowing the lawns. we are too strong for that to make us fall!!!
It also bothers me that people dont want to accept the fact that the majority of immigrats are from Mexico....that is a fact! it is easy to deny it and call someone a racist rather than accept the truth. i dont understand why many think immigrating to america and causing problmes here is the solution....they need to make their own country better! i wonder if all Mexico will be moving here someday.

I was a carpenter for 20 yrs. and it took me that long to reach the point where I was making a good hourly wage, then low and behold we had an invasion of illegal Mexicans and in a short period of time they more or less took over the construction industry. What I was doing for $20 hr.,
they are doing for $10 hr.
The illegal Mexicans need to go home and fix their own country rather the ruining ours.
President Bush lives in a world of denial along with the majority of the wealthy people in the U.S.
They either don't know or just don't care what they are doing to this country.

Yes, I HAVE done those very jobs. I have been a CNA taking care of the elderly in nursing homes, I have also been a dishwasher and even worked out in fields.
Every time I hear Bush say that it amounts to him spitting on Americans calling them lazy!
If there weren't Americans WANTING those jobs there wouldn't be a long line in front of the SWIFT and Del Monte Plants the day after a raid.

I used to work on a farm when I was in HS. I did work with several people who now I suspect are probably illegal. Sometimes you never know but you can make an educated guess. The sad thing is there are jobs some americans won't do mainly because they do not want to do the labor, but if you stop giving people welfare then you will start to see less illegals doing jobs americans "won't" do.

As much as it hurts me to admit it, I wonder if GW caught Ronald Reagan's Alzheimers. I have always been a staunch Bush supporter but this immigration issue is pushing me away. I'm not sure you can ever trust a president during his last term in office regardless of who they are, but I keep expecting the next shoe to drop.

This mostly affects working class people, illegal immigration tends to affect those who make less than $75,000 a year.
