There are people who immigrated to this country from Europe on boats and got citizenship right away. People coming from Cuba and Haiti come on boats and some get turned back and die back in their country.
There are others, like myself, who immigrated here legally and had to wait 5 years before I could even file for citizenship.
In the new immigration bill those who are undocumented have to go through a lengthy process up to 12 years, learn English and many other things before citizenship is even put on the table. What is the big deal? Sign it and lets stop the illegal activity. Do you really want this to continue?

Since most people feel that these illegal immigrants who broke the laws they should go home immediately...
I think every person who came into this country from Europe, former USSR, China, England and other places where they falsified documents and all those pardoned back in Kennedy's day decades ago should be sent back immediately along with current illegal aliens.
Send them all back and then it can be fair. If not...

Because most who call it an amnesty bill haven't read the details.

It is amnesty. There may be as many as 12 million illegals in the country. If the bill passes. They immediately become legal aliens. Being legal means they cannot be deported. They do not have to apply for citizenship.
Most Americans want our borders to be secured. We want the government to stop the illegal immigration. The government does not enforce the laws we have now. Illegals don't obey the laws we have now. What make you think the bill will change anything?
This immigration bill is obfuscation. Our elected officials won't secure the borders so they come up with a bill that sidetracks our main goals, which are secure the borders and stop illegal immigration.

if you are naive enough to think ANY provision of this bill will be enforced, i have a nice shiny bridge here in manhattan i can sell you very cheap. we the poeple DO NOT TRUST THAT THE POLICHICKENS WILL DO ANYTHING THEY SAY THEY WILL IN REGARD TO THIS PROBLEM! ted kennedy in 1965 promised that if we just granted amnesty to the illegals then, we would seal the border and enforce the laws and end the problem. ronald reagan in 1986 promised that if we just granted amnesty to the illegals then, we would seal the border and enforce the laws and end the problem. today, president bush is telling us that if we just grant 'amnesty' to the illegals, we will seal the border and enforce the laws and end the problem...i dont know about you, but i see a pattern developing here...THAT IS WHY WE WILL NOT SIT STILL FOR THIS RUSE ANY LONGER...if tis bill is passed it will effectively end the republic that was the united states of america and MOST americans do not want this to happen...do you understand now?

No, I don't support the bill. Most Americans do not. They want something much more strict, and one that does more for border protection now. Congress has failed again.
It is called amnesty because that is precisely what it is. Millions of people who have broken U.S. law have a way to receive amnesty (forgiveness) for breaking the law if they pay fines, etc. This will, obviously, only encourage scores of others to do the same.
This also does not recognize the fact that most of the illegals have no interest in becoming citizens, and still consider themselves citizens of Mexico. This is borne out by the rallies where the Mexican flags are flying, and by the plans to colonize or re-capture parts of the southwest. They are hardly hiding their intentions to do so.
For Mexico, they have no incentive to stop the illegals from coming to the U.S. because they will not do what is necessary to promote the growth of business and jobs in Mexico. It is much easier for the Mexican government to simply let the illegals live in the U.S. and send money back to Mexico to help their economy.
For businesses hiring illegals, they are getting cheap labor--but they are breaking the law to do so. And, they should be punished.
One of the biggest fallacies you will commonly see in this discussion is that the illegals are taking jobs Americans don't want. No. The truth is that they are being paid at wages Americans won't accept. And the businesses hiring the illegals are circumventing the law of supply and demand by hiring outside labor to do the jobs, which in turn brings down the salaries of labor. This is bad for the economy, despite claims made by Bush and the pro-amnesty crowd.

A very simple question deserves a simple answer:
The bill would give amnesty to 12 million illegal aliens.
That is the main thing Americans object to.
Want a bill to reform the immigration laws and make it easier for legal immigrants to come to America?
Then take out the amnesty clause and secure the borders first!

Blanket pardon given to any group for their crimes is amnesty. Look up the word in the dictionary. The so-called "Z Visa" goes to anyone that applies. It's pure BS. Americans can't get amnesty for anything. Neither should ILLEGALS! What part of ILLEGAL do you NOT understand?

Because the American people do not want the ILLEGALS not undocumented to get a free pass. And that to us is a free pass. These people entered our country illegally, so they are illegal criminals! They should be arrested and deported! And some American people are losing their jobs to these illegal criminals and that is NOT right! Just because the employers want cheap labor and got greed on their minds. And they belong in jail too!

it legalize 12 million criminals and reward them for breaking the law. it encourages more future criminals. it penalize the LEGAL immigrants who did everything the right way and demoralize them for following the LAW. it puts financial and social burden on law-abiding people. IT IS WRONG!
Past wrongs don't justify present wrongs. ILLEGALS are just that, ILLEGAL.

You don't seem to know the details. Let me fill you in.
All the illegals here, all 12-20 million of them, become legal at the stroke of a pen. THAT, friends and neighbors, is amnesty.
No fine, no learning English, no going to the back of the line, no nothing.
Legal. I'm against people not following the law, especially when I have to follow the law.
I'm against importing poor people we're going to have to support with our social hammock. Especially when they have no love for this country, and fly American flags upside-down while demanding we give them rights.
In. Sane.
"Sign it and let's stop the illegal activity." This is asinine. Why don't we make rape legal, that'd stop a lot of illegal activity too.
In. Sane.

Because it's allowing those who are here illegally to jump ahead of those who are trying to do it the right way, such as your self, if they have to wait 12 years, then fine let them wait but in their own country, they are law breakers weather you want to admit that or not, Illegal=not lawful.......
