I'm a liberal, accepting and loving person of all races, religions, etc. Maybe it's just me but, if I were to uproot my family and my life to move to a different country where it would be better for me, I would take it upon myself to learn their language. It offends me and really pisses me off that in an engilsh speaking country, the best one on earth, has to start adding spanish words to our public signs and private lives to adapt. I've even met immigrants who REFUSE to speak english! I live in Michigan for Christs sakes! If you're going to travel, move your whole life and the lives of your children, go through the process to become legal, or risk being here illegally, why the **** is it NOT improtant to learn the ways of life here?!? I understand that it's they're heritage and they're proud, that's fine but, THEY made this choice!

an offer of a reward to anyone who killed an American, any American.

So an Australian dentist wrote an editorial the following day to let everyone know what an American is so they would know when they found one. (Good one, mate!!!!)

**************************************************************************

"An American is English, or French, or Italian, Irish, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian or Greek. An American may also be Canadian, Mexican, African, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Australian, Iranian, Asian, or Arab, or Pakistani or Afghan.

An American may also be a Comanche, Cherokee, Osage, Blackfoot, Navaho, Apache, Seminole or one of the many other tribes known as native Americans.

An American is Christian, or he could be Jewish, or Buddhist, or Muslim. In fact, there are more Muslims in America than in Afghanistan. The only difference is that in America they are free to worship as each of them chooses.

An American is also free to believe in no religion. For that he will answer only to God, not to the government, or to armed thugs claiming to speak for the government and for God.

An American lives in the most prosperous land in the history of the world. The root of that prosperity can be found in the Declaration of Independence, which recognizes the God given right of each person to the pursuit of happiness.

An American is generous. Americans have helped out just about every other nation in the world in their time of need, never asking a thing in return.

When Afghanistan was over-run by the Soviet army 20 years ago, Americans came with arms and supplies to enable the people to win back their country!

As of the morning of September 11, Americans had given more than any other nation to the poor in Afghanistan. Americans welcome the best of everything...the best products, the best books, the best music, the best food, the best services. But they also welcome the least.

The national symbol of America, The Statue of Liberty, welcomes your tired and your poor, the wretched refuse of your teeming shores, the homeless, tempest tossed. These in fact are the people who built America.

Some of them were working in the Twin Towers the morning of September 11, 2001 earning a better life for their families. It's been told that the World Trade Center victims were from at least 30 different countries, cultures, and first languages, including those that aided and abetted the terrorists.

So you can try to kill an American if you must. Hitler did. So did General Tojo, and Stalin, and Mao Tse-Tung, and other blood-thirsty tyrants in the world. But, in doing so you would just be killing yourself. Because Americans are not a particular people from a particular place. They are the embodiment of the human spirit of freedom. Everyone who holds to that spirit, everywhere, is an American.

My Mexican husband is having a hard time getting a work permit for the United States. I'm an American citizen with a job working through phone line and internet, and I could live anywhere. But a place like Mexico is out of the question because they have bad phone lines/internet connections, and don't have any jobs for my husband anyway, though he's a great production worker, also great working with sound systems. What country would be easy for us to live and work out of, with no complicated immigration policies?

Joe Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN) for 6am. While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG). He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA), designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE) and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA). After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA) he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO) to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN) to the radio (MADE IN INDIA) he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY) and continued his search for a good paying AMERICAN JOB. At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day, Joe decided to relax for a while. He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL) poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE) and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA), and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in.....AMERICA.....

that the illegals are here doing the jobs that us "fat, lazy Americans won't do". Is that why you think the US needs the illegals to be granted citizenship?

My husband was informed that he was to report for an interview in connection with his application for naturalization on 18 July. The interview was to take place in Orlando, Fl. Four days after being informed of the interview appointment, he received another letter stating that the interview has been cancelled. No explanation was given for the cancellation nor was he given any indication if or when an interview will be rescheduled. Is this a normal for interviews to be cancelled without any explanation? What steps can he take in order to obtain more information about his case? He did manage to speak with an NIS agent via telephone but the conversation was very short and curt. Would appreciate guidance at this stage.

illegals are here because the government lets them!!! To all the people that don't want illegals here, go complain to the government, elect someone that cares and that will get rid of this problem... If you tell the illegals "Go home" they won't, not just because YOU want them to leave, this is something the government has to do!! So what are you doing to get your point accross to them, the gov??? Do you thing they're in this forum reading your complaints?? I don't think so.....

Can one apply for temporary protected status if they have only been here for over 1 year? I am very confused on how that works. I have read so many different things. One said that they must be physically, continuously present in the U.S since Feb 2001. The other says a bunch of stuff about you can apply if you were here before the last designated TPS was granted.

Can anyone clarify this for me, please?

I have been through this before,in the 1960's in Miami.U.S.citizens just don't stick together, immigrants do.The stronger will prevails. The goverment looks for a workable solution,I.E. amnesty,in some form.If you complain, you are predjudice.Small fights and disagreement break out in schools, public places,no one supports the earlier citizens,YOU are the pariah.Complaining never helps ,you bitsh all day and the cavalry never shows up.Pretty soon they are in positions of authority. Now you are sunk.Time for YOU to migrate-LAST ONE OUT DON'T FORGET TO BRING THE FLAG!

illegals claims about what illegals are doing to this society? I live on a meduim size border city here in Texas. We have a very safe and peaceful community here. Property values are good, there is no job shortages, in fact we need workers. We have a relatively good public school system. We don't have a drug abuse problem. We have one of the safest cities in Texas, our sister city which is 20 miles from here was rated 10th safest city in the country. I am not saying I live in perfect city by any means. But to say it is a bad place to live because of illegals is NOT true. About 10 years ago, abuse was going on with social services and illegals taking advantages of the system. That changed fast, the govt. made it much stricter to get benefits. Honestly, what I see is, they come here and work for cheap labor, yard work, cleaning homes, contruction work, etc. They don't bother anyone here. I can walk in most neighborhoods at night and not worry about my safety. Any comments?

The truth is if there's so many illegals here, it's because your goverment wants them here, they know the US economy will suffer greatly without them. It would be soooo easy to round all of them up and send them back to their native countries (not just Mexico, there's illegals from all over the world) I mean, have you seen the fake IDs and SS cards they use? I see them everyday @ work, and they are so easy to spot. Also, the gov doesn't seal the borders because not only do they need all the illegals, they also need all the drug money that comes in, what would happen with out the cheap labor of illegals and all that drug money?? The economy would collapse, and the Gov knows it!!! Why is it so hard to understand this and so hard to accept?? The US would be nothing without immigrants, illegal or not, I bet you didn't complain when your house was built so cheap, and when your office and house are cleaned for about $ 5 per hour. Accept that you are wrong and stop complaining!!
