I know a man who's son was murdered about 6 years ago. It has been a very very tough 6 years for him! He was cleared as a suspect. But recently he found out that his phone and cell phone are tapped! Why? Why bother this guy if he is no longer a suspect? Why make his life more miserable? To me this shows a lack of respect, a lack of heart, It solves nothing! I man the man is 63 years old! He lost his son! He has no criminal record, and has served his time in the military, and has retired! Can anyone be left alone anymore? I understand there are some law enforcement agencies who do not waste their resorces in this manner. I know there are good cops. But to me this is heartless! I think you leave the guy alone! I think that law enforcement officials who do this kind of thing should face diciplinary action of some type!

Suppose there was a family secret and it was that you found out your parents were illegally in the country. You never knew until you became an adult. What would you do? Would you want them to be deported?

After seeing the Marines at school today, I have considering whether or not I should sign up. I am healthy and have no medical issues. So, what do you guys think about joining the military this late in the game. Stats: no kids, no husband, and live alone.

Question: Do you agree with the letter I sent to YA?
Question Details: To whom it may concern, I am writing to request the re-instatement of two YA accounts that have wrongly been suspended. Brian, our Top Politics Answerer has been suspended and so has Suthrnlyts. This is ridiculous. Both these people provide thoughtful and informative posts and are not abusive in anyway, shape or form. They were targeted by people who simply want to see them gone because they disagree with them. I know I speak for many when I say they need their suspensions lifted. YA needs to look at its abuse policy and make some changes. May I suggest the following; 1. If you have less than 250 points you can't report abuse. Many people who report abuse have very low points and are just there to cause trouble. 2. It takes two accounts reporting abuse on one post for the violation to stick. This way one person can't go on a report abusing parade. 3. If the post does not contain foul language and does not demean any other YA poster it does not qualify for abuse. YA is losing many good people because if it's misguided policies on Abuse. Give free speech a chance! Penelope

Okay, I have the utmost respect for ALL Marines and Army men and women. But, I've seen so many times that "Marine Infantrymen are better than Army Infantrymen, and even Army Special Forces"

I understand that Marine Boot Camp is longer and more intense than Army BCT. BUT not everoyne in the Army will be an infantryman. Army has AIT also.

About the Special Forces thing...no offense but I HIGHLY doubt a Marine Recruit could best a Army SF or Ranger...sorry

Sorry, but does anyone agree that they are all basically equal at what they do? Or is it just a pride thing for all Marines to ramble off about how amazingly awesome they are (I'm not doubting it)

No flaming please, just my take on all of the opinions! I love the Military, I am just wondering if anyone else feels the same way.

before any illegal immigrant can get the green card or resident he has to learn and talk fluent English, but this will only affect people under 50 yr old, because once you are older than 50 your mind isn't able to learn English or any other language.

the thing is that they haven't made this bill yet

do you have any good bills? put it on

I signed up for selective service and would be proud to serve and honor the country that has given me the freedom and opportunity. However the problem I have is that why arent women forced to do the same. If women can vote, run for president like hillary clinton, receive financial aid, federal benefits, and federal jobs why arent they required to do the same as by law. If they are not forced to do the same as men would it be best to give men more benefits and rights in certain aspects or take away some woman rights to make up for this.

An economist testified Wednesday in U.S. District Court that Tyson Foods depressed wages at eight plants by hiring undocumented workers.

“It seems Tyson pays lower wages than what other unskilled workers get in comparable labor markets,” said Dr. George Borjas, who compared wage data and produced a report for plaintiffs in a class-action lawsuit filed against Tyson.

Defense lawyer Tom Green is asking Chief U.S. District Judge Curtis Collier to rule the report and Dr. Borjas’ testimony inadmissible at the trial, which is scheduled to begin March 3, 2008.

“The data is not reliable,” Mr. Green said. “It’s infected on many fronts.”

Mr. Green produced several papers written by Dr. Borjas, including a commentary published in the Wall Street Journal claiming an influx of immigrants to an area has a “weak but negative impact” on wages in a city.

Chicago-based attorney Howard Foster, who represents the former Tyson employees seeking damages for depressed wages, said Dr. Borjas estimated wages at eight Tyson plants saved the meat producer about $25 million from 1998 to 2006.

If the damage amount is allowed and plaintiff’s win the suit, Mr. Foster said it could cost Tyson Foods up to $75 million.

“If we win, (the damages) will automatically be tripled,” he said.

Mr. Green criticized Dr. Borjas’ methodology, which he said does not paint an accurate picture because wages are compared to statewide data rather than to wages in the areas immediately surrounding the Tyson plants in question.

BTW a boycott of Tyson Foods helps too...why put the prices up to pay for the lawsuits if nobody is buying Tyson anyway?

This is a very good letter to the editor. This woman made some good points. For some reason, people have difficulty structuring their arguments when arguing against supporting the currently proposed immigration revisions.
This lady made the argument pretty simple. NOT printed in the Orange County Paper...................
Newspapers simply won't publish letters to the editor which they either deem politically incorrect (read below) or which does not agree with the philosophy they're pushing on the public. This woman wrote a great letter to the editor that should have been published; but, with your help it will get published via cyberspace!
New Immigrants
From: "David LaBonte"
My wife, Rosemary, wrote a wonderful letter to the editor of the OC Register which, of course, was not printed. So, I decided to "print" it myself by sending it out on the Internet. Pass it along if you feel so inclined.

All my co-workers liked & respected me
I really worked hard and for longer hours than I suppose to do, expecting nothing in return.

Being good in my job, and being liked by most of the co-workers, made my boss feel very uncomfortable, he started to hate me, I could feel it... so, he didn't renew my contract.. I did accept it. I did work soooo hard till my minutes there. In my last meeting with my bass, I found no reason to show or tell him how unfair he was to me..so I told him in a very polite and decent way how grateful I am for giving me the chance to work for this esteemed Co. and that I will always be there for them if they ever needed me... by nature, I hate to hate... I always prefer to have as less enemies as ever possible...

A few days ago one of my clients (also a friend) went to the Co. and was very badly treated by my ex-boss, he humiliated him even... and on top of that he told him in front of some employees that I made lots of mistakes which he is trying to correct !!!!
Is that fair????
Do I have any legal rights?
Can I sue him?
Please advise

I have a friend that wants to fly from California to Texas and we already know that he will need a government issued ID to board the plane. He does not have an ID, where can he get one that is government issued with avoiding the DMV. It will take him awhile to get the DMV issued ID so is there an alternative? He's trying to fly out in a few weeks so we need something that is quick & that will work through the airport.

The only problem I have is that they don't pay taxes. Besides that is it a competition thing? Or a racism thing? or what? I mean they only take the crappy jobs like lawn care, restaraunts, construction. If people are loosing jobs in that field, don't they already have bigger problems?

How do you force yourself to keep going in a world that just gets worse and worse every day? I'm beginning to think that things are not going to get better, and that planning for the future is pointless because we're headed for the total destruction of the human race.

For those who have lived both in the U.S. and another country and have had experience with the legal systems of both countries, what do you see as the comparative strengths and weaknesses of both systems.
What can the U.S. learn from the legal system in the other country?

I keep on seeing posters write that poor Americans have cell phones and cars. I never had a cell phone, computer, or a family car when growing up. Grant it, I wasn't starving to death like the poor in other countries because of food stamps; but my mother struggled to pay the electric bill because she was on SSI and trying to raise two kids. Sometimes the food stamps weren't enough and we got old food with bugs from churches. She wasn't disabled before she had children. For those who think there aren't any poor people in America, I guess you've never seen a family sleeping out in the cold under a bridge. I worked at a transitional housing center that fed the families that lived there because they had absolutely no money for food; and in the 1 year I worked there, over a dozen people got sick from the food that was cooked by the Food Bank. The kitchen and the whole building had literally thousands of roaches and one man had to get surgery because he was bitten by a brown recluse spider.
