Our country is already in a situation of deficit spending, so where is the money for universal health care going to come from. Over the next 40-50 years, our government is going to have to pay out increasing amounts to social security and medicare to our aging population that is living longer, and we already supply medicaid and welfare to the poor of the country. So where, among all of this social spending already, is money going to come from to foot the bill for universal health care. The poor are already receiving 30% more in benefits from the government than they are paying out in taxes, so do they think that this is a handout that they are given the right to? I just don't see how universal health care will do anything but promote more unemployment and higher taxes causing our savings problem to get worse, among other things. A higher tax has been proven to cause people to work less. If you don't believe this is true look at Iceland in 1987 when their income wasn't taxed.

An Obama spokesman, Ben Labolt, last week declined to say where Obama's records from his years in the Illinois State Senate are located. There is no law mandating the state to archive the records. The records from Obama's office -- if he kept them -- would potentially show appointments with lobbyists, policy memos, meetings, etc.

• • Obama has supported more earmark disclosure to bolster government transparency. Last June, Obama disclosed the earmarks he requested for Illinois and national interests. However, his office, after repeated requests since June, has yet to disclose earmarks Obama sought in 2006, before he was running for president.

• • Obama does list the names of hundreds of bundlers -- people committed to raising at least $50,000 for the campaign -- on his Web site. He brags about the disclosure on the stump.

But that's literally all Obama does, list a name......"

NEW YORK - Tom Curley, CEO of The Associated Press, called on news executives Thursday to "stop pining" for the past and adapt to the new ways that news is being distributed and consumed.

"The first thing that has to go is the attitude," Curley said. "Our institutional arrogance has done more to harm us than any portal."

I'm asking for real. I have read and heard people saying to go after anyone who employs illegal aliens and to prevent illegals from working with SSN tracking.

And yeah I get it; no jobs for illegals no reason for illegals. Supply and demand.

But I see a problem with that thinking.

First is that it will make it difficult for illegals and will stop some from working for pay checks where they pay taxes. But there will just be some more illegals working for cash and off the books. There would be an increase in this and I don't see how it can be a good thing. It is much better for us all for business transactions to be visible.

Second is that making it difficult or impossible for illegals to do honest work is Not going to just make them magically go away like that.

What it Will do is make many people who were poor but not comitting crimes Very Desperate.

You don't want to see it.

So..do you think that trying to stop illegals from working is a good idea?

Someone said this to another of my questions:

"I'm voting for Mike Gravel, but there's not way in hell he's going to win. To many American people have their heads up their asses."

But is that going to be an option at all for him?

ALSO

Somebody said this (same question):

"Clinton
its time for a woman to be a president for a change
GO WOMAN!!!!"

Do you think a lot of people are going to vote for her primary because of her sex?
