First: Do any with all lobbist and soft money!
Run these people off the hill.
Pass legislation that requires FULL disclosure. I know there is already a law for that, but it doesn't go far enough into exposing how a elected offical can be influenced.
Second: Do away with the electorial college!
A cantidate can only win on the popular vote. This would make everyone's vote count. The electotial college was a good idea in it's time, but we don't need it today. It is now used as a tool to Manipulate to outcome of an election.
Third: Do away with earmarks in the legislative process. I shouldn't have to explain this one to anybody!

Fourth: Make it a law that every elected officials voting record is reported in all local papers in their district and easily accessable on the internet. I know this information is out there already, but it's to hard to get at.
Set-up a website with just that information!

But what do you think about these changes?

B. Dick Cheney, because I had to dodge an errant bullet, and he will give the milk clean up contract to Halliburton.
C. The big milk corporation fat cats, because they did not put milk carton gripping instructions on the carton.
D. Ronald Reagan, because the cost of milk went up under his administration, as did the price of everything else. He really messed up all of Jimmy Carters hard work.

I came home from vacation and I noticed all this stuff missing. My lap top which was only a year old, tons of clothing, also my other roomate noticed she had missing money and clothing items as well. I filed a police report but they don't do anything. The new roomate was moved in while we were away on vacation. When we confronted her, she swears her friend stole it and her friend says she stole it. I want to do something, do I have any legal rights? What can I do to pursue this. It's really frustrating, the police say I can't do anything when i know they were the only two in the apt. when we were on vacation

Why is the US so divided into 2 extremes that waste their time bashing the other side?
I mean, I'm not from there, and they way I see most of the questions on here, and things I read in the papers or watch on TV, it makes you guys look so ridiculous.
has all political thought been reduced to us vs them and black vs white?

i don't understand why everything has to be lumped into two sets of generalities. nothing is ever that simple. nothing.

I just think you guys should spend less time quarreling, and more time trying to fix and run your country correctly.

I am so sick of people (predominantly liberal democrats but some far right republicans) calling the insurgents freedom fighters. I fail to understand how these people are freedom fighters when they:

-are trucked in from other countries to fight
-routinely target civilians
-kidnap civilians for torture
-behead civilians on camera and broadcast it on the internet
-have hidden agendas like working for iran and smuggling weapons
-get training and arms from al qaeda

How are these people freedom fighters?

Did george washington target civilians in the revolutionary war?

Can someone please explain?

1) Right wing neocons:

Democrats are not unpatriotic, nor are they traitors. Anyone who calls a member of Congress a "traitor" or claims "the Democrats want to lose the war" have no credibility at all. These people are more of a danger to America than the terrorists ever could be, because they destroy America from within while cloaking themselves under the guise of Patriotism. They attack anyone who doesn't agree with them, but never with substantive argument, only personal attacks because they no nothing other than what allows them to pound their chests with false bravado.

2) Left wing conspiracy theorists

Enough with the "Bush planned 9/11" talk unless you can come up with CONCLUSIVE proof that it's true. It's hard to make the claim that the administration could be that sinister and mastermind such an event yet also claim they can't do anything right about Iraq. If Bush is really that inept, it shouldn't be hard to take him down with conclusive evidence.

I've heard many reasons from the libs stating why the war is not making us safer but none to me are valid. No more attacks after 9/11 in our soil is enough to know that Bush is doing the right thing.
First of all, all these al-queda members and insurgents from different factions were there before the war (Middle East). Eventually at one point they were going to wake up no matter what.
Bush has been tough on these people, by going out there and catching or killing most of them including high ranking individuals. The war on terrorism is not just against Al-queda, it's on every terrorist. Extreme Sunnis, Shiites, and Kerds are also terrorists, so don't give me that we're not doing anything in Iraq.
Iran and Syria are the other two countries that should be next. These countries are a threat to us in every way. I do believe in talking to them but in the past we've all learned that talking to these people doesn't work and doesn't get things done.
War on terrorism is the future, reality
