First: Do any with all lobbist and soft money!
Run these people off the hill.
Pass legislation that requires FULL disclosure. I know there is already a law for that, but it doesn't go far enough into exposing how a elected offical can be influenced.
Second: Do away with the electorial college!
A cantidate can only win on the popular vote. This would make everyone's vote count. The electotial college was a good idea in it's time, but we don't need it today. It is now used as a tool to Manipulate to outcome of an election.
Third: Do away with earmarks in the legislative process. I shouldn't have to explain this one to anybody!

Fourth: Make it a law that every elected officials voting record is reported in all local papers in their district and easily accessable on the internet. I know this information is out there already, but it's to hard to get at.
Set-up a website with just that information!

But what do you think about these changes?

We should not allow lobbying by companies at all! Individuals lose access to their government when corporations have all this money to spend and when they use it to influence legislation to help them. This promotes corruption and in the case of illegal immigration, it promotes lawlessness and subversion and terrorism! Your suggestions are good ones and I'd vote for them. I would add that we shouldn't have to pay to get a list of registered voters or the contributions made to a party or on behalf of the candidates. Our government exists for the people and therefore, our taxes should cover all requests for information and should be the sole charge for that information. By making the information expensive difficult for the people to obtain, the government has been able to operate in secrecy and corruptly. We need to change that and we need to become involved in our government -- each and every one of us! We can no longer sit back and think that what is going on in the government doesn't directly effect us. As the government gets more and more involved in our private lives by phone tracking devices, electronic tracking, information gathering, etc., A corrupt, lawless government is not only on our doorstep but in our bank accounts, in our bedrooms, in our doctor's offices, and everywhere else. We must exercise due diligence!

These changes would be awesome and would do the trick... however, who but the American people are going to enforce them? Dems and Repubs aren't going to do it... The only others that propably would would be more well known 3rd party candidates who will never get elected in our lifetimes. Only the American people (if they pay attention and force the issue with their elected officials) can force these changes... Good luck with that. Too many people are watching Desperate Housewives, Dancing with the Stars and Monday Night Football to pay attention.

I agree on lobbyist, it creates a conflict of interest and should not be allowed.

Disagree with getting rid of the electoral college. That is designed for equal representation in each state.

I agree with getting rid of earmarks, again, creates a conflict of interest.

I also agree with voting record, we shouldn't have to search for a voting record, we should have complete access to it via a website as you proposed.

I like ideas 1 and 4... The other 2, I would have to say no to those changes.

Wow. I am so fascinated by your ability to explain, vaguely, suggestions for new laws. And furthermore you seem to believe that it is never a problem to make lots and lots of more laws which have never existed before. Just wave a magic wand to pass a new law to "do away with" anything you don't like. It's as simple as that.

I do agree with your point #2. The rest of your suggestions remind me of a song, ..........

When you wish upon a star,
Makes no difference who you are.
Anything your heart desires will come to you. ..............

Excellent ideas. I specifically agree with the second provision you've stated.

The first one would be to hard to accomplish. The money will still be filtered in one way or another.

Third; completely agree.
