I want to become an officer in the Marine Corps, but I also want to be a "hands on" leader, and be able to go where my marines go. Is becoming an officer a bad choice? I've heard that lieutenants are most often platoon leaders...does that mean i'll be with my marines in the field? What about Captains?

I already know my way, but I wanted to hear what other people have to say. I don't think the "surge" is working, nor do support a pullout.

Why does George Bush think the lives of hundreds of his countrymen were worth bringing democracy to a country thousands of miles away? Why did Blair think the same?
Aren't they supposed to be our leaders, looking after us? Is Iraq more important than their own citizens and servicemen?
My only guess is that they want the oil, and doing deals with a dictatorship is a bit "iffy".

Bush is responsible of not only killing innocent Iraqi people but of killing his own people. Not looking after them...Good health should be accessible to all Americans, your President doesn't care about the health situation in America. If you haven't got the money you simply die or suffer. Why can't you people get together and tell your President that what you need now is a country that can go to a doctor when they want to regardless of how much money they have and to be able to go to a hospital and be looked after without money. Surely the health and well being of Americas people should be up there with fighting terrorists. Spend some of that military money on Americas health. Such a wealthy country and so many in need.
So my question is "Why can't Americans do something about this terrible situation? America is a democratic country and the people have a say...don't they? Perhaps my information on this subject may be distorted ...I would appreciate some views on this subject.

I mean those able to serve. Isn't it our duty as citizens? And please don't post a bunch of fluff about "freedom" and "voluntary". We already have alot of freedom restrictions; military service would not lead us to anything fascist or totalitarian. Think before you type.

The most dominant view posed by those whom responded to my questions regarding abortion, expressed the opinion that they don't care if an abortion terminates a human life. They place more value on the "rights" of a mother to do whatever she desires with her "body."

Do you believe that we have lost the significance of the value of human life these days??????

She'd certainly be more diplomatic than Dick Cheny! Imagine it, Obama-Oprah 2008. Do you think he or she would even consider it as a possibility? Only problem is, we have to live with the idea of her becoming president if Obama kicked the bucket.

I have been subjected to reprisals (discrimination) for filing claims under FECA, FMLA, OSHA, Whistleblower Act. These reprisals have included being mandated to attend "improper-illegal" Fitness For Duty evaluations by means of deception by the employer (and Doctor), denied pay when injured-sick, denied representation by union stewards, numerous "bogus" disciplinary actions and even "interrogation/intimidation" by "the one" protective agency that is supposed to investigate threats and intimidation of the workers!

My 32 year old son lives in Denver. He is profoundly deaf. He works for a printing company. He hired on as a driver. He's a great worker and his boss loves him. He has learned additional duties such as binding, etc.
Here's the thing. He has an AA in computer graphics from Rochester Institute of Technology. He has repeatedly asked his boss if he can do computer graphics. His boss tells him no, because he is deaf and he would need to communicate with the client. He doesn't even let him try.... just says no, because he's deaf.
Is that an ADA case?

Pro-advocates often say that we have no right to tell a woman what to do with their body. Allthough this is true, I consider it a red herring. The question is, "Is it a life?" If it is, it should be protected no matter what the mother says. If not, it has the value of a scab or a removed tumor.
So which is it????
