Bush is responsible of not only killing innocent Iraqi people but of killing his own people. Not looking after them...Good health should be accessible to all Americans, your President doesn't care about the health situation in America. If you haven't got the money you simply die or suffer. Why can't you people get together and tell your President that what you need now is a country that can go to a doctor when they want to regardless of how much money they have and to be able to go to a hospital and be looked after without money. Surely the health and well being of Americas people should be up there with fighting terrorists. Spend some of that military money on Americas health. Such a wealthy country and so many in need.
So my question is "Why can't Americans do something about this terrible situation? America is a democratic country and the people have a say...don't they? Perhaps my information on this subject may be distorted ...I would appreciate some views on this subject.

I have no love for terrorists and I have no love for war...the very fact that this problem has existed for so long just makes me wonder why something hasn't been done before. I just can't understand why your health system is so bad. I have a friend over there who is suffering and I would think there are a lot more in her situation.

Nothing will ever change because most Americans are lazy and complacent and more than happy to just whine about things, but when it comes to actually doing something ... well, you see what gets done.

No one will protest like during the Vietnam War because people are too afraid that others will call them "hippies or liberals" or unpatriotic. Take for example that soldier’s mom who protested at the White House and then had to retract her protest because other military moms were threatening her and calling her unpatriotic.

As far as healthcare, nothing gets done for two reasons:

1. People have this "everyone gets treated and children have healthcare and there are already too many freeloaders" idea. Well, wake up and face the facts: People with no insurance get the minimum treatment required by law and nothing else and insurance premiums are ridiculously high so that leaves a vast majority of Americans out. It's increasingly difficult to get into these *wonderful* programs for children and the middle and working class don't qualify anyway. So, what do you say to the middle and working class moms and dads who make enough to survive, not enough for insurance for their families, and too much for the government programs?

2. Americans have a knee-jerk reaction to anything that even *sounds* like Socialism or Communism. Socialized/universal healthcare has nothing to do with Socialism/Communism, but as soon as Americans hear it, they automatically associate it negatively and are against it.

I completely agree with you and would like to add that it's really hypocritical of the US Government to go around "fixing" other societies when its own is far from perfect, and only barely satisfactory.

Not much.

I would disagree that he is killing people because we don't have universal health care. Even if poor people didn't have access to health care (which is a misconception), I wouldn't characterize it that way and blame it on Bush. If Americans really, really wanted universal health care, we would have it already. However, we have something like it. No American, regardless of their health care situation, is turned away from a hospital if medical care is necessary. Usually what occurs is that a person is admitted and a social worker figures out how to put the person on social security disability or medicare or some other type of government paid medical program. Hospitals also sometimes eat the cost and pass it along to paying patients. Poor people don't just suffer and die. There are also free clinics, etc. It may or may not be preferable to the system in other countries, but it works here.

I would also like you to understand that the system in this country is on the cutting edge of medical technology and medication research. That is because of the mix of government money and private money. If universal health care means that the private money goes away, the government isn't going to make up for it and people who create new medicines and new procedures will find other jobs in other fields where they can make money. Some new medicines and procedures will still be created, but not many. The pace will slow considerably. If universal health care were instituted in 1980, we would not have the new AIDS drugs that we are now sending to Africa. How many millions of people would die if the American system was not based on capitalism? You have to take the good with the bad.

As for Iraq, what do we do now? If we leave Iraq, you will see the biggest civil war you have ever seen. There are factions there that want to kill each other once we are gone in such numbers that it may rival the Nazis. The number of dead in Iraq does not come close to that since America has been there. The only thing we can do is try to stabilize a government. How long does that take? Can we even do it? I don't know. Maybe we should leave. But if we do, watch out for the consequences.

I think that most presidents in a crisis realize that they are faced with several really bad options. What is the right thing to do? Whatever has the least terrible consequences. Right now, it is costing American lives and prestige and money and a few Iraqi lives. Leaving now may cost more American prestige and many, many, many more Iraqi lives and perhaps a lot more money around the globe in higher oil prices (every economy is based in one way or another on oil, so oil should not be just shrugged off as non-consequential). Which way to go? I don't know. As such, I'm not sure what I would say to Bush even if I could talk to him.

The President will continuously make difficult options that commonly do not coninside with what the human beings choose. the distinction between a competent President and a undesirable one, is the shown fact that a competent President will make you already know mutually as a decision could desire to not be familiar, that's larger for the country interior the long-term. A ballot could properly be biased in keeping with who's taking them. A Fox information ballot will continuously prepare decide to the Republicans basically as a CNN information ballot will continuously prepare decide to the Democrats. those are basically examples. As to why he does not hear to the american human beings? he's to out of touch with the known American. how a lot of his advisors and group can the known individual relate too?

If I don't have health insurance, I will stay sick.. The govt should make it possible for me to get free/low cost health care..If I don't get enough food to eat..the govt should give me food (food stamps). If I can't afford housing..the govt should give me low cost housing (section 8, rent subsidies). If I can't get to work, I can't buy insurance, buy food, pay for the rent..the Govt should give me a car.. FDR (a democrat) was president during ww2, a war we got into when we helped England. Truman (a democrat) dropped the atomic bomb on Japan and fried babies. LBJ (a democrat) escalated the war in Vietnam. Nixon (a republican) ended it. All the while, a Democratic congress was in the majority with the power to cut the funding. Bush 1 fought the war with democrats giving him the money. When I was in the Air Force, we were told to remove the armor plating from our HH53 Sikorsky helicopters to save fuel due to the money getting short by congress (guess who was in control of the purse strings. Now it's a big thing that Evil George Bush send the boys in without armor reinforced Humvees.. Who do you think controls the money? want to hear more..e-mail me. I always get blocked when I speak of these things...so read fast!

I think Bush is listening to me. All this rant and telling us how to run our country because of your American friend? I think the truth is you're a product of a sad culture that takes more enjoyment from bigotry towards Americans than your excuse about your friend. Grow up and worry about the Aboriginal workers your government is bilking bllions of dollars from.

I am glad that Bush sent our American Troops to Iraq. The Iraqi government was in shambles and they still are trying to get their government in order. Thanks to Saddam, many, many of Iraqi people would be alive if he wasn't in leadership, or 'dictatorship' that is. How many underground graves did they find that Saddam had killed and tortured? How many of his partners got hung? So you are blaming Bush for killing innocent people when troops are still fighting terrorists in Iraq because the Iraqi government is not still in order. We are there to help the Iraqi people, not kill them. You must have your facts all wrong.

Seems like this was never a 'health issue' you are worried about. It seems more like you are supporting terrorists. You just had to slip the 'health issue' in here.

Our main priority is fighting "terrorism" right now, not about health. That's another story. So before you blame Bush, get your facts straight first.

Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done. Bush is stubborn and doesn't care; he is interested in nothing but his own agenda. All we can do is pray for January 20, 2009 to arrive QUICKLY!!!!!

your information is distorted....

he was not responsible to 9/11....aq terrorists were...and they are led by osama...they trained in iraq...and saddam was a bad bad man who released chemical weapons on his own people....

he is gone now...and his sons? they torture/rape kings? gone as well...

iraq has a real chance...but...as with all change it is frightening..and the terrorists are not making it any easier...they kill innocent with their roadside bombs...indescriminate killing.... and they don't care... they hack off heads of reporters...and they don't care ....they have one mission in their pathetic little lives... kill the infidels... and if they die in the process, well that is just fine ....cuz' their reward comes in heaven .... those ever popular virgins.... OBL's new tape wants to know when we are going to convert...

here's my answer....well you can't see it...but i am making a finger gesture....and which means basically....NEVER...

if someone in the US wants/needs to go to the hospital ...they can... children do not go without health care... each state has programs...some called medicaid...some medical....which covers....and no hospital...none can turn away a really sick person... that is called dumping and it is against the law....

you are right...we are a wealthy country...

we do "take care" of our citizens...too much at times..and to the point where they will not work...would rather be on public dole... we also send billions overseas in the form of aid...

Bush has been a good president...and history will judge him as so....

I will assume that you are very young and naive. You really truly don't know what you are talking about. Our country is fighting terrorists because they have attacked us. Period. That is the first job of the President of the United States. Regarding health care, we have spent BILLIONS of dollars on those who choose not to work for a living, who choose to have babies inspite of no income or insurance, who choose to drink, take drugs, smoke, overeat, or whatever until their bodies get chronically ill. You are a child and need to try very hard to just sit quietly and think about what YOU can do to make the world a better place within your own neighborhood or social circle. You really don't have a grasp of the big picture, and therefore can not begin to cast stones.
