Often I'm asked what it's like to live in the most populous Muslim nation- Indonesia and my observations on Islam.

Honestly Islam especially of the Middle Eastern variety is a terrible religion.

When I give my informed view (my father in law being a secular Haji Muslim and politician- my wife and her mum are converts to Catholicism)- people just don't want to hear the truth- that Islam from the Middle East is a violent means of controlling populations and detrimentally deforming societies and cultures.

I have numerous examples- even cited by Indonesian CIA (BIN) documenting how Saudi's attempt (usually via Pakistan or Qatar) to subvert secularism thru propagation of Pesantren (u know them as Madrassa), Mesjid (mosques) and funding of militias such as Jemaah Islamiyah seeking a panASEAN Islamic Caliphate (overthrowing royalty & Buddhist Thailand, Laos, Burma and Cambodia of course).

Why r British people so deaf to a view far more experienced/informed than their trendy PC Guardians?

Within the past 3 weeks, I receive 2 tickets. One for going 80 in a 65 and 60 in a 30. For the 1st situation, I had to drop my sister off to school. Took the highway, went w/ the flow of traffic on cruise control at 80, & all of a sudden I see the state trooper. I slowed down but I saw the cop pull out & put his lights on. He told me I was speeding 80 in a 65, I told him that I was going with the flow of traffic & I was in a hurry to drop my sister off. Didn't matter to him, gave me the ticket for speeding & no insurance, because I didn't have the insurance card with me. Next situation, just dropped my sister off to her ballet, driving home on one of the main roads going with the flow of traffic, 40-45 in a 30, All of a sudden I see a cop car trailing me, no lights yet. I turned on one of the streets and went to another main road 1/2 mi away, & then he put his lights on. The cop told me I was going 60-30, and I told him that the most I was going is 45 due to flow of traffic....

My boyfriend and I are wanting to move in with each other, but the mother of his child reckons that if we do, she will stop him from seeing his daughter, all because I have epilepsy! She reckons that their daughter would be a risk if I was looking after her on my own, and that there is a law in which she can do this. My epilepsy is controlled and I've been fine for a year and a half! So can she stop my boyfriend seeing his daughter because of it? We have been together for a year now.

The Maastricht Treaty, which came into force in 1993, says that any European state which respects the principles of liberty, democracy, human rights and fundamental freedoms and the rule of law may apply to join the Union.

The European Union has gone from six members in the 1950s to 27 in 2007. Today, Croatia, Turkey and Macedonia are candidates. There is talk of some day including the Western Balkans, Ukraine, Georgia. Which of these, if any, should be next to join and why?

I think I might be okay on this one, but need opinions of people who may have been in a similar situation.
I filled in a form on the internet to recieve a free trial of an international magazine which was Swedish (I live in UK) and after about 3 weeks I got the mag in the post. The letter that came with it stated you had to inform them you didn't want to continue with the subscription within 14 days of receipt otherwise they will continue to send you the monthy mag and bill you.
Now much to my stupidity I forgot to do this up until about 17 days later, by which time I had recieved an invoice for the full subscription. (But how would they know when I recieved the mag in the post? As UK post can be pretty unpredictable due to recent postal strikes).
Anyway - I heard nothing back from the email I sent to them requesting that they cancel my subscription, and just recently they sent another copy of the mag! They only have my name and (temporary rented) address - no credit details at..

It's for Americans to apologise to the rest of the world for the disasters caused by George Walker Bush and his administration.

Leave a 'sorry' note if you haven't already... or a 'I'm not sorry' note if you still believe that Dubya is infalliable, can do no wrong and is one of the greatest US presidents ever...

This isn't an anti-Bush question.
I live in the UK. If a politician tried to interfere with a conviction or sentence passed by a court, let alone quash it - he'd be swept out of office.
Yet successive presidents seem to be able to squash convictions and jail terms for their friends; Clinton did it, Bush is now doing it and II'm sure previous presidents have done it as well.
Why isn't this causing outrage in America?
I though in America everyone was supposed to be nominally equal before the law? How can that veneer survive when your prospects of staying out of jail depend on how good a friend you are of the president of the day?
I am genuinely perplexed by this and I therefore ask this question in an effort to see what the views of ordinary American's are.
Note: Answers which are merely insulting of Bush and/or the UK are not helpful.

Kevin Rudd made an impression on the China President Ho. What gives this black stockinged little Gitt (Alex) the right to condem Kevin Rudd for speaking the President of China's language? God talk about bottom of the barrel, there is nothing they will not do to win this election.

On several questions I have seen posts concerning how American's get their historical view of how America won WWII, saved Europe, England... defeated Germany... Some answers say these beliefs are from Hollywood making movies portraying Americans in the Savior role, even having movies made that show the US in battles that they were not in.

A. Because American film makers felt that way or just how they felt the public wanted to see it.
B. Is there some truth in it but is it exgesurated
Why is it that they concentrate solely on the American effort?
Tora, Tora, Tora is probably is one of the better WW II movies, however, it made in the 70's and has only to do with the attack on Pearl Harbor.

I know this question has been asked a million times, but I really am having a hard time figuring out what I want to do.

A few reasons why I want to join are:

1) I need direction in my life

I went to school to become a Medical Assistant & graduated..., but still don't know what I want. I feel like my life is at a stand-still.

2) I want to learn responsibility and be able to do things and live on my own.

I just turned 23 and I still live at home and I just feel like I could be doing so much more with my life.

3) To take care of our soldiers out there when they get hurt (I want to be a Medic) and of course to fight for our country!! HOOAH!

I got into the Medical field because I have a passion for wanting to take care of people.

I'm from a military family. My grandpa fought in Vietnam & retired as an E-8. I've wanted to join the military since I was 14 and I think it would be an honor for my grandpa to salute me at my BCT graduation. It would make him so happy!
