Often I'm asked what it's like to live in the most populous Muslim nation- Indonesia and my observations on Islam.

Honestly Islam especially of the Middle Eastern variety is a terrible religion.

When I give my informed view (my father in law being a secular Haji Muslim and politician- my wife and her mum are converts to Catholicism)- people just don't want to hear the truth- that Islam from the Middle East is a violent means of controlling populations and detrimentally deforming societies and cultures.

I have numerous examples- even cited by Indonesian CIA (BIN) documenting how Saudi's attempt (usually via Pakistan or Qatar) to subvert secularism thru propagation of Pesantren (u know them as Madrassa), Mesjid (mosques) and funding of militias such as Jemaah Islamiyah seeking a panASEAN Islamic Caliphate (overthrowing royalty & Buddhist Thailand, Laos, Burma and Cambodia of course).

Why r British people so deaf to a view far more experienced/informed than their trendy PC Guardians?

Don't worry about my screen name- I couldn't think of any- I'll change it to my real name.
BTW- Islam plundered and sacked Indonesia's culture and it's massive Majapahit Empire by forcibly converting Hindus by the flame and sword by Arab-trained Ulama, most notibly Fahatillah- all 50 years prior to the Portuguese visiting (100 years prior to the Dutch & 150 before the British). Colonialism is not always the root cause.

I'm not sure what sort of answer you're looking for.

To me (and a lot of other people, I imagine), it's abundantly clearly that Islam is a religion whose origins are based in greed, power hunger and violence (as lived out by teh prophet).
I'll probably get a fatwa for this, but what the heck.

Like Christianity and the crusades of the Holy Roman Empire, it's power was recognised co-opted for empire building, through the mechanism of Jihad.

The "clean up" of Islam was instigated mainly by the Moors, during their occupation of Southern Europe, and contact with Christians.
The "wahabi" flavour of Islam has only become dominant since the discovery of oil in Saudi in the 30s, since when large sums of money have been spent promoting it.

And it is only since 9/11 that the Saud family has tried to distance themselves from "extreme Wahabi".

And unfortunately the Islamic "fundamentalists" seem to have a hankering for the pre-empire days, when the sword was the word of god.

I'm an Atheist and feel all religions should be banned. Religion causes too much diversity and are the vocal point of most battles and wars. Religion should be owlawed and left in the dark ages.

If people want to follow a "cult", which is what religion is, and believe in imaginary people such as Jesus, God, or Muhammad then they need psychiatric help and should be sectioned under the Mental Health Act. People who follow these religious "cults" are a danger to society.

Am I deaf? no, I'm a realist.

Christianity and Hinduism don't seem to be much better. Half of your old wars in England were fought in the name of god. Hindu extremists all too common where I live. British people probably have a guilty conscience.

Because England is not a Muslim country. It is fine to have a discussion, but a lot of people here (English people are predominantly Christian or Athiest) are sick of having Islam rammed down our throats all the time.

Islam has been demonised in the minds of the brain washed ,who seem incapable of doing there own thinking and have instead believed the stereotypes portrayed in the media..I feel Islam is a less forgiving or tolerant ,religion and Muslim countries i perceive them to be hypocritical and harsh..Have these counties rejected Western ways and looked back on their own cultural traditions.....Notice number of moronic comments above. All terrorists are Muslims what an idiot..Look at the terror inflicted on civilian populations in Iraq during this illegal occupation (Geneva convention) and the Marines who got convicted of child abuse and murder will serve all his time and be inflicted the same as is demanded by these reactionary, short sighted, brain dead machines..

mosstly because of the presant immigration and work issues going on . brits are looseing jobs and houseing to the situation plus it is illeagle to speak negatively about muslim/islam but not christianity. people just dont want to knowabout who is distroying their way of life as they see it. houseing has sky rocketed and the only people who get it are not christian ,white english. no offence intended.

i also think they just dont understand it.

i find most muslims i come in contact with to be rude and arrogant. i suppose its because they are now in our country wanting payback for what our ancesters did to yours. this is only a guess but from what im told by both sides . it appears to have truth in it. england is dieing and what both dont realise its them killing it. one day soon this country will be bankrupt both physicaly and moraley . so what do you do then go back to your farthes land..

i mean you no offence i simply say what i see all the time.

have a great day peace be with you.

I was taking you really seriously until I saw your name.

We are aware of extremism, where it originates and how it is spread. Unfortunately, a lot of politicians are in denial or afraid to confront it and many moderate muslims are afraid to stop it or report it.
