Well, we are free to sign up and free not to since the military is voluntary. It's supposed to stifle any other argument you may have for your point. This line of reasoning is faulty however. I assume if the reasoning was correct, that you could take any argument and then challenge the person to try it, sign up, put you money where your mouth is etc.

Ranks a little bit higher than " liar, liar, pants on fire " but is in the same line. Many people may want to sign up but are too old, not healthy, handicapped etc. Sounds like the argument eliminates anyone that has not "signed up", including the person that used the phrase.

It's no worse than "if you don't like it, why don't you leave" or "we're fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them over here".
