Can you be arrested by a police officer (on public or private property) by telling the officer you are currently under the influence of a controlled substance (and not possessing any of it)? And specifically, in Arizona.

The death penalty may not be a deterrent, however what good does it do to keep this guy locked up for life while living on the tax payers dime? Has anyone seen what it cost per year to house a prisoner?

Cruel and unusual punishment? What about all the cruel and unusual punishment this persons family has gone through?

I sold my car to a guy about 2 and a half months ago, I signed over the title and thought that was it. Today I get a call from the police deparment saying the car was in an accident and it's still registered to me. The officer said the people who were in the accident might call me for my insurance info, which I don't have since I sold the car. What can happen to me? Or what will happen?

It sure seems that way. I've heard of some bad ones like Andrew Johnson but that was over a century ago. Even though Bill Clinton liked BJs (who can fault that?), he was much more articulate and was better with making international friends with other countries. America's foreign policy in the 90s seemed to go much more smoother and they seemed to be more well liked around the world since then. Also, the US dollar had rapidly declined since Bush had been in Office.

considering the current unconstitutional situation, with the republicans failing to recuse themselves in the Bush v. Gore case, even with 2 of them having family involved in the bush campaign, ms. o'connor's admission that she didnt understand the florida law, and the general unconstitutional structure of everything republican against us, (WE THE PEOPLE), are not the only actual justices on the bench the 4 who dissent, and does that not make mr. breyer the actual chief? if you review what should have been United States v. Slavery 1989, then what was Marbury v. Madison, 1803, Plessy v. Ferguson !890, and University of California v. Bakke, 1978, don't we see a pattern of unconstituional decisions, undermining specific individual's 9th amendment rights? Did not each slave have the right to freedom? Did not Marbury have the right to work? Did not Mr. Plessy have the right to ride the train? Did not Mr. Bakke have the right to go to school instead of friends and family of power holders? 9th

Do most if not all Democrats assume that all Republicans are rich?

Are you stereotyping?

It seems as though it's either that or Republicans are some hillybilly, gun totin hunter who drives a Ford.

Not that I'm trying to taint answers, but I'm a Republican with a college degree in Criminal Justice and I'm not rich by any means. I perform a social job that most would not want to do by working in a maximum security penitentary in Texas.

When MOST people come here they don't know anything about the benefits they can get here , they really just come to make a better life. I think it is a bad spirited thing to say they are here taking the benefits when the point of welfare and education is to help people regardless of their status, just for the sake of they being people. I think it's time to realize that AMERICA is not the only country in the world and that there are countries and people that need help. We are fighting a war to "help liberate people" , when we have people here that need our help and all we do is kick them in the ***.. how ironic? dont you think?

Please if youre gonna answer things as "illegal is illegal" or "shoot them" save your time I don't care,

I have a friend who is a Criminal Justice major and says that local police have the capability to scan local ip addresses to see if they are accessing websites that contain information on illegal activities. More specifically, he says that if the police were to "catch" you looking at a website that discusses how to grow marijuana, they can use it as probable cause to come to your house and ask questions. Maybe not search your house, but atleast come snoop. He specifically called it probable cause.

Now I am not a law expert, but this sounds rediculous to me.
Should I refrain from reading up on illegal activies for fear of being "looked into" by the local authorities?

I'm not talking about powers given by the Patriot Act. I know they can look into nearly any crevice they want in order to find "enemies of freedom" or "terrorists" or whatever. But I am talking about drug use/ cultivation/ anything illegal that is not a threat to national security.

Something needs to be done about Illegal immigration and securing our borders?

I know there are a lot out there that are for illegals, but I honestly think I see more people from both sides of the aisle agreeing on this.... Do you agree?

Obviously I think so and I think this is one of the biggest problems we face today. It effects so much of our society. It is a national security issue, it puts a drain on our schools, hospitals, police force, job market, economy and so on. With everyone's voice in unity on this one I think things can be done. We are already seeing the effects in Washington. Can we be united on this front?
