Odd, the Repubs said it was just FINE for us to give up our rights and let the govmint listen to our phone calls if we weren't up to anything why should we care? Now they defend Dick Cheney who actually HAS something to hide! Insane!

I am about to enter either the Navy or Airforce and I am currently a translator and would love to be able to continue this profession for my country but I have been told that if I do I will be sent to the war zone. Being a dedicated wife and mom of two, I really don't want to choose a career that will definitely put me on war's path--I realize that there are no guarentees once you enter the military. Thanks in advance!

I mean, it seems like a stupid question, because of course the President has the same rights as every other American citizen. But wouldn't right-wing presidents such as George Bush go ahead and exercise that right (which, as far as I know, they don't)?

Why do we need the government to pass laws instead of allowing business owners to make their own decisions? Why is my health so very important to the government? We are all here a very limited time anyways, should we not be happy and be able to pursue happiness?

Maybe I missed the civics lesson regarding characteristics of the vice presidency. To the best of my knowledge, the Vice President is a member of the government's executive branch, and the VP's role of president of the senate, was designed as an executive check upon the senate's powers. With this in mind, the VP would be a full-fledged member of the executive branch. I do not understand how Vice President Cheney can deny membership within the executive branch.

I am currently the Plaintiff in a case against a local home builder who destroyed my property. After all options were exhausted, I brought them to court. There only response in the whole case has been when there attorney filed a Civil 60(B) saying they never knew about the case until I filed a bank attachment.
They claim they never showed up for the first court hearing because they were unaware of it. They say that one of there employees who, who has since quit, never told anyone about any court summons or paperwork or pending trial. HOWEVER, the owner of the company who I am bringing the case against SIGNED the Certified Mail receipt for the summons.
My question: Is there any way they can say that she did not receive or read it, and what will possibly be the Defendants next move? I hope the judge realizes that they have lied under oath and on an affidavit and upholds the origianl ruling in my favor. Thank you

They derisively condemn those who display it. They somehow equate the patriotic fervor which swept the nation post 9/11 as the rise of "fascism". They even use the term "flag waver" as a pejorative.

In one telling incident, on September 21st, 2001 the city of Berkeley, Calif. (arguably the most liberal and anti-American city on the continent) removed US flags from it's firetrucks!! http://www.firehouse.com/terrorist/20_APflagsremoved.html

I guess the only US flags that liberals enjoy seeing displayed are the ones doused in gasoline and then burned at the anti-American war protest.

I signed up about 4 years ago for a 1mb unlimited broadband connection with AOL.
today in the mail i receive a letter from aol stating that because I have downloaded over 60gb of mp3's, movies etc i am subject to speed restrictions due to their "Fair use policy"
This to me seems like a breach of contract, seeing as it is not actually an "umlimited" account. it is unlimited in the way that you can keep downloading, but if they're restricting your speed because of the ammount you download that can't be unlimited, because the limit is effecting my broadband speeds.
if not legally a breach of contract what else can i do about this besides ending my registration, which is a last resort but the only one to me it seems.
please don't reply to this question stating "aol are crap" because you are preaching to the choir.
thanks.

Recently, my girlfriend, my brother, and I were out driving. I was driving her car when we were pulled over by two deputies for my failure to use a turn signal. Well my girlfriend gets all jittery and starts moving around which must have raised the deputies suspicions. They gets us all out of the car and while one is watching us the other searches the car. The car is clean with one exception. Under the seat where my girlfriend was sitting is a bag of marijuana. It is beside the point that I knew nothing of this. In any case, we were all three arrested. Here is the core of my question. My brother and I were handcuffed behind the back and my girlfriend under whose seat the weed was found and in whose car it was found was not. The deputies didnt have a third set of cuffs so she was allowed to sit in the back of one of their cars with no cuffs while my brother and I were cuffed behind the back. I thought if you were arrested you got cuffed. And why was she not cuffed when we were?

Even though the politicians are experts at polling, they still don't listen to the American people. Congress's rating is at an all-time low and the president's isn't much better.

They're getting ready to grant amnesty to 20 million criminals, even though a majority of Americans don't want this.

Every year, we hear reports of the waste in Washington, but nothing ever changes. No one is fired or criminally charged. The craziness just continues without end...

How do we send a clear message to Washington?

Please don't respond with telling me to vote the current politicians out of office. I don't see any material difference between the Dems/Reps. They're all part of the corrupt political machine. The two-party system has to go....

We need to do something to stop the corrupt politicians in DC (and most states)....

I haven't ever been in an accident and have no problem with them having my recent history, or my past either, but there is some history that is personal and private (gynecology appts and so on) and don't see why they would need it all. I was wondering if this is the norm or if I should seek out an attorney or what.

Why do americans have limited knowledge on foreign affairs, especially from the opposite side perspective? There is always an American perspective which is always right, and the other perspective which is always evil, bad and wrong?

I loved the America I knew as a boy. Most people were conservative, family values were high, and moral values were high. Nowadays, thanks to liberals, we have political correctness, pathetic juvenile rappers encouraging kids to be criminals, heavy drug use because of low drug laws and popularization by liberal hippies, kids rebelling against their parents, and kids can't be disiplined properly because of liberal laws restricting parents from doing anything, and our entertainment and media sources are not censored.

Which is more family friendly: Navy or Airforce? I would like an admin job and would obviously prefer a job that keeps me more often than not with my family. I am willing to choose a career based on what will keep me close to my family and probably out of war. Although there are no guarentees which of these brances would help me achieve my goals? I'm very good at all admin and easily learn languages--I'm currently a translator. Thanks for your time and concern!

Yellow journalism is a pejorative reference to journalism that features scandal-mongering, sensationalism, jingoism or other unethical or unprofessional practices by news media organizations or individual journalists. It has been loosely defined as "not quite libel".
Is this what electronic News should be?
