Bad "journalism" is unfortunately the norm these days. Political talk shows are awful, rarely spending enough time on an issue, and, without much expertise in most, except to utter the shrill stance on this or that. Democracy requires an informed and educated populace, and, it is troublesome to see where we ae headed, like, a freight train into the abyss.

The moment you use the term"entertainment" the question
of a higher standard of truth does not arise.Only you should
be entertained.
Look, newspaper publishing like films is a business and they
do so many things to improve upon their business. That is
why serious readers go for certain type of newspapers.
The journalists are employees, they shall have to follow
their master's dictum. The newspaper barons want to
control the human mind, they do subtle manipulations of the
news to suit their interest which even the highly sensitive
reader will not be able to understand. If you observe, these
barons have newspaper in diverse fields to control diverse
minds. The fourth estate wants to be more powerful than
all other estates.

It is not what it should be, but that is what it is.
They would execute someone on live TV just for the ratings if the FCC would let them.
Used to be that a reporter would state the facts and then they might follow it up with an editorial or commentary on the subject.
Now it is nothing more than trying to score gotcha points on the competition.

The media outlets provide the type of news that will gain them higher ratings than their competitors. Entertainment seems to be what the public wants.

News stations like ABC have stories on Paris Hilton, etc... which I think is not right. ABC, CNN and other news stations whether on the internet, television or radio, should have the REAL stories and REAL issues.
We should leave the gossiping to E! and MTV and the Paparazzi.

Sadly, it has become entertainment. Personally, if I want entertainment, I will watch a movie or a sitcom or a drama. If I want NEWS, I would rather get it from the "news media," but it has become so sensationalistic that what you find there is rarely real news.
Just look at the Paris Hilton jail debacle. Who cares, already?

Most all news reporting has a slanted view or is sensational. It is all about money and getting people to tune-in. However, thanks to freedom of speech...ain't nothing you can do about it.
