I turned on the tube a couple minutes ago to see how the immigration debate was going. I found Paris Hilton on every cable news channel. Paris' sister "partying" in Greece. Paris in LA. Paris free from jail. Paris to be on Larry King. Paris...Paris...Paris

"... Already long ago, from when we sold our vote to no man,
the People have abdicated our duties; for the People who once upon a time handed out military command, high civil office, legions - everything, now restrains itself and anxiously hopes for just two things: bread and circuses"

Neurology and genetics are suggesting that many behaviors are biologically determined ("nature"), even more than the "nurture" of training and experience. The trend is for more and more behaviors to be determined by genetics.

What is being taught about this topic in law schools in the US?

I was starting to fill out the Mass form to get health insurance (unemployed, looking for work) which is a law now. I saw that it said that if you are awarded money because of accident the state can take some of it. And if you are 55 or older and die the state can get money from your estate. Why? This doesn't happen with regular insurance or welfare, does it? I'm not 55 yet, but still...I don't understand why the state is making me pay for something that will benefit it. Also you have to notify within 10 days after your income changes. What if I get a job with the temp agency and then it ends and something else comes up? I can't find this info online anywhere, so if anyone else in Mass has any answers, I'd be grateful.

the RIAA is trying to shut down internet radio. They want to increase royalty fees by ridiculous proportions, forcing all small- and mid- size internet radio companies into bankruptcy. We need to fight this. We can't let lobbyists in Washington ruin the innovation and creativity that internet radio sites like Pandora.com (which, by the way, I highly recommend) have brought to radio. Please go to www.savenetradio.org to understand a bit more. Please, please help with this. I think that many of you will agree that internet radio deserves a future brighter than that if regular broadcast radio, which is totally saturated with commercials, plays only the mainstream artists and genres, and has no flexibility at all in what programming they offer. Again, I can't stress this enough. If WE don't fight the moneymongers throwing their weight around in Washington, we'll end up with another watered-down, non-creative, factory-produced part of the entertainment industry. Nobody wants that.

Most "liberals" I have known would rather watch paint dry then listen to a loud crude mouthed individual spew out simple minded rhetoric spoon feeding one politics. Liberals tend to NEVER buy into the hateful values a shock jock talking head broadcaster represents. There are news programs that liberals will tune into, NPR, and, PBS hourly news, but liberals tend to want more substance than a talk show can provide.

Now I know this will drive neocons/theocons/conservatives absolutely nuts because of their feelings about appeasement (I know, Bombing & invading is much more sexy & exciting) but maybe, just maybe, it might be smarter to try to use diplomacy, even with Axis of evil nations, because if sure beats getting 1000s of US troops killed & getting caught up in unwinnable wars, don't you think?

Why does the United States only has two major parties. Why is this different than, for example, England? What typically happens to third party move- ments in the United States? Can you foresee any way that a third party can emerge to challenge the two dominant parties in the country?

My assertion is this:

The fact that the pro-illegal immigration camp is accusing the opposition of racism is evidence that illegal immigration is a genuine invasion of the United States. Furthermore, the radical proponents of illegal immigration are the real racists.

What do you think?

29 Republican Senators voted to allow clouture. This stops debate and brings the Bill to the floor for a vote. Since 60 votes were needed for clouture and only 51 are required for passage, some of these will vote against it once it comes to the floor. This is a very underhanded way to make sure the bill is passed while going on the record as voting against it.

Do not be fooled all of these Republican Senators are traitors to their conservative base.
